Strut mounts or broken coil spring/coil spring isolators?

Edit: I had a Saab 9-3 years ago that started doing that, and it was a bad strut mount with too much play. When the wheel was turned (slow or no speed), the force would cause the strut to knock within the mount at the top of the tower.

My Horse's Tires are 1 in. bigger.
My 03 Tacoma 4X4 Stock gets a metallic knock at turns below 15 mph. Had ball joints done. Sway bar done. recently Rack and pinion done. Ujoints done last week and STILL get the knock on turns. I had the mechanic check all bushings joints and tighten all bolts. Still does it. I am going to GoPro certain areas and see if that gives me a clue. Will double check the strut and shock bushings. I'll be back!

Steering stops but more likely lower control arm ball joint/bushing thing. If you're OEM, you replace the whole thing. I'm about due for my third set. I always replace them in pairs.

Forgot to mention - the fact that it is happening on low speed turns could also indicate bad strut mounts.

Wow I just developed this problem after some very light off roading on some USFS roads. I've driven and beat up a bunch of ford rangers and never developed this clunk sound. Kinda disappointed in my trd off road right now. Gonna take it to a mechanic on Tuesday to see if they can diagnose the problem without replacing every single component of my suspension.

On Cars and SUV's with MacPherson struts, Yes. but the tacoma and most other trucks do not have the typical SUV/car strut mount that turns with the wheel. Ours are static and do not turn since they are mounted to the LCA and not to the knuckle. So since they don't turn you won't get the low speed clunks on turns from the strut mount. Not to say they cannot go bad though and cause a clunk in general like going over bumps.

Does it sound like this? I have removed my sway bar after this and the noise persists. I’ll check the steering shaft torque and see if that fixes it.

I have the pop/clunk too. My intermediate steering shaft is brand new, and sway-bar deleted. Tie rods and alignment are recent. New steering rack. Next job is rad support bushings. I'll check cam bolts too and report back.
