Replaced my rear sill and removed the side bed panels, and found significant rust above the wheel wells. They must had died years ago. Question is, what are these called / correct part number? I have a 2005 V6, access cab, long bed, 4x4.

Here are the images. These are above the rear wheel well just behind the black recessed area in the bed. First 4 right side, last 4 left side.

    I suspect it is these.

    65635-04050
    Panel, Wheel House, Rear RH

    65636-04050
    Panel, Wheel House, Rear LH

Are these the correct part numbers, and can they be replaced without removing the fender. Eg, can I do all the repair by removing the plastic wheel well?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe you are correct with the parts. There is not much back there so your odds of getting the part number for something else is very low. I took mine off years ago to because I trimmed 3" off my finders and removed my liners.

Apparently this is what these parts are supposed to look like. They have 4 bolts and support the space between the bed and the fender. It looks like removing a few bolts in the fender liner and it will make enough space to remove the bolts and drop the old parts out.

Began the removal process and of course 4 of 8 bolts snapped off. Actually it helps though because it completely frees the piece from the flare. Theres a new nutsert on the new part. All inner bolts were rusted, rounded off and seized. Cutoff tool coming out tomorrow, and should allow removal of the entire piece.

Note the liner does not have to come out to remove these parts. Just pull the two fir tree rivets in the liner and you have enough room to pull it back and access the inner 2 bolts.

The outer 2 bolts lie just above the flare. Use a small 10mm ratcheting wrench between the flare and liner, and you can remove them or break the heads off.

Once all 4 bolts are out, the part is free. Slip the new one into the spot it was in and bolt back into place.

Went as planned, new ones to be installed Fri. Will have to drill out inside bolts. Also note the removing bedside open cargo boxes allows for easy access for rust cleanup & install.IMG_20180613_150541.jpg IMG_20180613_150523.jpg

Got the new ones installed. Outside bolts were a little tricky to line up with the nutserts but ultimately did.
The inner ones were easy to drill out but note that these bolts are very short, about 1/2 inch. So when drilling out it's super easy to hit the bed above.
Unfortunately couldn't tap the inner threads well, so went ahead and reversed the bolts and threaded through the bed, put a nut underneath. Solid now.
