New member here and excited to start nerding out on trucks with everyone. I just bought a new (to me) 96 Tacoma SR5 V6 5 speed and am in the process of building it out. That includes removing the stock chrome fender flares and painting them black. In the process of removing them the brackets that attached the fender flare to the wheel well were so old many just snapped and fell out.

Does anyone know where you can find replacement pieces? I really don't want to buy new fender flares as I'm about to shell out for a lift and new tires and wheels, but I also want to keep the flares to protect against rock chips etc.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

There was a lot of dirt underneath there. Unfortunately, the tabs that sit on the backside of the fender flares were so old and brittle they broke, so I can't simply re-install them.

1926B941-5DBB-4C3B-B5C1-12315359E6A3.jpg and if they are the style with holes in the fenders, a good idea is to fill the holes with stainless bolts and washers. looks good imo

I would get rid of those chrome ones and get the TRD ones for your year.
    Get the fiberglass early versions.
They should be plug and play if your truck is from 1996-2000

@1997tacomav6 those things look clean for sure! But like I said, I am shelling out for new OME Dakar Leaf packs (both sides) and a full Billstien 2.5" suspension lift so the idea of spending $400 on fenders right now is a little hard to swallow. At some point, this would be great though.

I'm also in the same predicament with these. Had to pull off the rears to do some body work and replace a wheel well liner, and nearly all of the clips broke just from handling. Would really like to find replacement clips as I like the look on the truck and the fronts are in good condition

as far as i know they (clips) are not separate from the whole molding piece from checking with the shop parts guy, they might slip out of a used/salvage one found in good unbroken condition but idk
i have to remove mine this weekend again to get the paint treated for winter, and see what gunk got in there after a year and ~45k of dusty trail running, last year the gunk buildup was BAD and i broke one or two of those sliders

I like chrome and I like that truck. Please leave it on.
This everything black is a passing fade. The end is in sight when you see mini vans blacked out now with grandpa driving it around.
