Going to go with Anza Borrego on this one, looked up images on both via the google and Johnson Valley seems like a lot more sand dunes...I got my fill of that for awhile up in Pismo, lol.

I don't know about Johnson Valley by Anza has a lot of marked roads that are compacted and can easily by driven. I had no issues last year

Johnson has it all. This is where King of Hammer's goes down.

This is tough. I haven't done anza and definitely want to get out there. Hammers in Johnson Valley is tits. What were the snafus last year in anza? I heard the group that went out there got split some how and people were scattered all over the place camping. That wouldn't happen in Johnson Valley. Plenty of space for as big a group as you can imagine. I'm 50/50 on this. Both will be bitchin'

There were people camping at Ocotillo Wells & At Anza Borrego. The main reason being Ocotillo is OHV friendly & Anza is not; also Anza was more primitive. We had people with dirt bikes & atvs so a large majority of us ended up camping at Ocotillo. If you haven't been to Anza or Ocotillo I would say it's definitely worth checking out

I'm going to have to take primitive camping over generators and toy haulers anytime. Johnson Valley and anza are both blm land. Fugh it. Anza is my vote. I'll be at the king of the hammers for the big event. Probably camp there before then anyhow. Cool pictures Nick. Stoked to see the pumpkin patch.

Usually there's a few weeks for a vote on the location then a vote comes up for the date

Ah, you're right I just saw that...I have a wedding in October to go to as well, I'll have to double check the date when I get back. I'm sure the date for this is somewhat tentative depending on the majority

Op says Oct 22-23 but Mike says that can be hashed out further.

I'm not big into overnighters. I like more time to settle in and enjoy it all as much as possible. I'll go out Friday morning and leave Sunday.

Edit: overnighters blow when a long drive to get there is the case. Local overnighters to big bear and Joshua tree I can do.

Yeah if we're going that far out to wheel I'll more than likely make a whole weekend out of it as well
