Here's the thread for it if anyone's curious...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...miller-jeep-trail-socal.456064/#post-13449669

Sounds like the 2wd that is stuck needs a winch to get out, the other 4x4's there only have straps and it isn't enough. I think @BAMFTACO has other recovery gear and he's on his way out there. There are usually a lot of Jeeps out on that trail, hopefully one with a winch comes along soon...

So power line road from Vegas home was a complete bust. Idk if I made wrong turns or what, but I could. Not figure it out. I found the entrance, followed lines and I don't know if they recently blocked it off or what it was, but there was fences up and I couldn't continue. Almost got myself stuck in a nasty rut coming back along a different road than we took to the blocked road. Luckily the kings did their job and I got out ok. Added a few new pinstripes as well.

huh, weird...Powerline Road has been around for years, I can't imagine they'd close it down now....maybe they do at certain times of the year? :notsure:

I suggest downloading some offline trail maps to your phone. Californiatrailmap.com is a good one. Pay for the top subscription and you're good for life to receive all the updates. Google maps is just meh for off road. Good on you for getting yourself out of a possible sticky situation.

For a cheap app I use motion-x and lately I've been experimenting with leadnav

Motion X is another one I hear good things about. And Gaia as well.

Ya I dunno. I probably just took a wrong turn or something. Either way, got about an hour of off roading in circling about and got myself unstuck by myself so that was cool. Next time I'll plan it out better
Ya I actually got the maps download from someone I just need a map app that works with it. Haven't taken the time to do it yet though. I definitely will soon though

Galileo is a good app that will likely run with your maps

I have a pair of Garmon rino 655's the more I use lead nav and motion x the less I use the rino's. I much prefer having the satellite images that load from MotionX-GPS even without having service. I find it to be much more useful to be able recognize landmarks from the photos and have a rough idea of what trail conditions are like, but I'm also not running trails that see a lot of use. If I was just running jeep trails that everyone else runs the topo on the garmin would be just fine.

I still carry the garmin as a back up and give my spare to whoever I'm out with. It's nice to be able to look on the map and see exactly where your buddy is.

Been meaning to hit you up. I'm planing a Mojave Trail run East to West for sometime after December 17th with @snowboard704 . Let me know if your down. I know your tied up with the Death Valley run right now.Don't want to leave you out cause I know you had interest in this trail run. This trail will be for up to 6 trucks. Gonna talk about it with some of the guys this weekend.

I think I can make that work as well. Figuring its gonna be a 3 day 2 night trip. So we can be back for Christmas Eve. We'll touch base on it in the next week or two.
