Someone that is familiar with Rowher Flats verify this is 2wd friendly. It's all fire roads. Doesn't look to climb to crazy. But I am sure one here is super familiar with it.

I can't really see that map very well...where is Rowher in relation to the route you have highlighted there?

If it's the main fire road that goes through Rowher then yes, it's 2wd friendly barring any major changes in the trail from the inclement weather we've had over the past few weeks. Just take it slow and scout ahead if you come up on something you aren't sure of.

Rowher main parking lot is at the start(right side). I will be going from right to left in relation to the map.

Oh okay then yeah, that looks like the main fire road.

Word of caution though, first time I went 4x4'ing was at Rowher in my truck after I got it several months back, my dad and I ventured out by ourselves and started on that road. It was a cloudy day and the fire road takes you up to the top of the mountain where the 4x4 Rowher trail crosses the fire road, we got mixed up in the cloud cover (couldn't hardly see 10 feet in front of us) and ended up on the 4x4 route going down toward Bouquet Canyon road. All I have to say is it was a damn good thing I had 4wd, lol. Be mindful of the signs, the Rowher 4x4 trail is marked and they're easy to see to miss if you aren't careful.

Looks like the fire road highlighted. Trails are labeled so just don't take the black diamond if you are by yourself. 2wd drive can go down black diamond on Rowher Trail no problem as long as you have some offroading experience but I would not do Look Out trail period. Just don't go up Black diamond trails.

That steep decline going toward Bouquet on the black diamond trail would be sketchy AF without 4lo, lol. I wouldn't want to do it with just brakes alone

I have seen it done many times. If he has driving experience I would not worry about it but shouldnot do it alonearly
Edit: since we just had rain it's probably not a good idea though.

lol That would not be good with a 2wd.

I was actually thinking of going down towards bouquet canyon on the first left turn available. If you see this map, there seems to be fire road that goes to bouquet canyon before getting to the rowher trail intersection.

I did it in a stock 2wd rental Silverado. The truck was full of jokes and laughs until we started going down that hill. It went dead silent in the cab

haha, I bet. It's a puckering hill for sure

With a 2wd it would mean riding your brakes down pretty heavily the entire way, plus it's rocky and rutted so your truck lunges forward each time a wheel goes into one of the dips/ruts. Anyway yeah, the fire road takes the long way around it and is much more 2wd friendly.

Do you know if the map is accurate? In that fact that I can take a left on sierra pelona towards bouquet canyon instead of a right and go the long way?

I've never taken that way down but yeah, in theory it should be accurate.

I know it cuts the trail much shorter but I just want to give it a try. I can go further up when I feel more comfortable. You not willing to go? I'll buy breakfast.

Tomorrow I might have plans, still waiting on a friend to confirm but I'll know more by this evening. If that falls through I'm up for some wheeling, I'll let you know
