Yeah I'm going to call around, I know CA is really strict on aftermarket cats so we'll see. Hopefully I can find some in a junkyard. When I reset the code it usually stays off, it's come back on twice now when I'm going up to the MJT while driving up the grapevine lol. My truck doesn't like that stretch of highway.

Anyhow I've got 6 months until I need to get it re-smogged so I think I have some time to look around

Those were changed about a year ago but yeah I'm going to get another independent shop's opinion. Toyota is saying the first cat is toast but the 2nd one is usually "not far behind in their experience". Yeah, I'm going to get another shop to look at it lol.

What I'm not too clear on is how the whole aftermarket cat converter rules work in CA, I've heard mixed things...some saying you have to go OEM and others saying there are approved ones you can use. Anyone have any experience?

Of course this happens right after dropping a few grand on mods lol. Fuck

I know you're not in the area anymore @eon_blue but that best muffler place near lowell on foothill has cats if you're looking for leads

I've used aftermarket ones that are carb legal. No issues. You can find them online.

Magnaflow makes universal cats even for California. I may or may not work there. Browse our catalog on the website and if you can’t find a part number I can look for you in the morning. We’re based in Oceanside
