I wish my girls daily Starbucks trips were even remotely close to my monthly hobby costs. She feels guilty about her Starbucks trips, but has zero idea how much I spend a month on crap I enjoy.

ya kinda of an agreement we come up on a while back, kinda works out cause only thing expensive with my wife is parts for her dirt bike! but she's the same with "saving" which is what makes getting her something every time:facepalm: i get parts for the truck difficult.

    Don't get my wrong.

Saving is good. I am way better off with her than I was w/o her. But the idea of saving EVERYTHING for the "future" and not spending anything on enjoying the present is frustrating.

If your truck is street legal it is about a 3 hour drive from the Tahoe side back to Loon Lake to pick up your tow rig. Lots of folks go in and out from the Loon Lake side. If you have never done it I would recommend doing the whole trail. Drive to Tahoma, drop your tow rig at staging and drive around to the Loon Lake side. Take a couple of days to do the trail and enjoy. Definately worth the trip. I've been through more times than I can count in the last 30+ years and it is always a good trip. If you want company, look up TLCA Rubithon which is in June...great trip with lots of help (including Marlin himself who runs the sweeper crew) and this year is the 30th anniversary!

You guys ever heard of Devil's Canyon Truck Trail? It's in the Angeles Crest Forest area, I was looking at the Rincon Truck trail which is apparently right in my backyard (practically) here in the Pasadena area. Following that trail on Google Maps it takes you to this trail called Devil's Canyon Truck Trail. Did some quick googling and there looks to be some rock crawling areas along there, rated as "difficult to moderate". Sounds like something new to check out

Rincon Red Box truck trail? From 2 highway to Azusa OHV area? Looks like a cool trail thru the mountains. I'd be down to check it out next weekend. Most the roads in Angeles crest I have went to see have locked gates. Might be worth calling the local ranger station.

On Google Maps it's called "Rincon Shortcut Truck Trail" and it runs north/south about 25 miles total. At the end (or beginning I guess) is off the 39 Hwy in Azusa that cuts through the mountains, and right about there is where the Devil's Canyon Truck trail starts and is supposed to be about 10 miles long.

I've done a little searching and it looks like a few years ago the Rincon trail was closed because it was no longer being maintained by the park service, but someone I was just talking to at work said they heard it was open. But yeah that could be heresay. The Devil's Canyon trail though can be accessed off of the 39 Hwy, that's the one I'm most curious about. Rincon looks like it's just a fire road for the most part.

I'd be up for exploring this Saturday if you're down, assuming it's open. Have a freelance gig on Sunday so can't do it then

haha I should avoid doing a night run...my gig on Sunday starts pretty early, can't take the risk. Dunno if I'll check it out during the day or not yet, but if I do and it's cool we can check it out again next week

Wait until you get to deal with 3.0 C/O and 4.0-4.5 (6) tube bypasses. You'll like working with your light weight shocks at home haha.
