I flew it when I was in Santa Maria without a single issue a week or two after. There must be drone ghosts or something on White Mountain that was haunting my drone lol

Great deal right here on a good looking 1st gen plate bumper...who here knows how to weld? :welder:

Can't decide between this or new OME leaf springs (still running 3 leaf AALs = back breakers)

Too early for beer so I guess I'll wait until tonight to order it after I knock back a few.

I boycott the super bowl every year (not really, I just don't give a crap about football). I'm glad it's this weekend though, means that Drinkwater/Rowher will be virtually empty when I go out there to camp/wheel Sat/Sun.

Was thinking about doing that, can get a cheap welder set to learn on from Harbor Freight. Would hate to fuck up a good plate bumper though lol.

Yup, after having a few beers (and dodgers losing the WS) is when I decided to pull the trigger on my rear bumper. Sure helped ease the pain from the loss.

hell you could probably even do that out here in Monrovia these days...had a fatal gang shooting at a bar in our downtown area a couple months ago, few cars stolen in the neighborhood recently and two nights ago the local Verizon store was robbed at shotgun point at closing time. Crazy shit going on around here lately.

On the welder subject. It is a big investment on buying a good welder for sure. But some things I've learned over the years are a cheap welder is just that. A cheap welder. They will over heat and cause you to wait for 20 mins for it to cool down enough to start welding again. They will also cause crappy non penetrating welds. Sure they will weld (thin stuff) but they won't penetrate and weld the thick stuff like a bumper or sliders. I would spend the extra money and buy a good quality welder along with a gas setup with the mig mix gas (A 75 percent argon/25 percent CO2 blend (also called "75/25" or "C25") works as the best "all purpose" shielding gas for carbon steel). The gas sheilds the weld and gives you a nice bead, not those popcorn welds you see. You can also use flux core wire for welding outside where the wind might be blowing all the gas away from your weld. You don't have to get the top of the line welder but don't get the cheapest you can find either. Also invest in extra spools of wire. Not those little 1 lb refill spools but the 10lb spools. Nothing worse then constantly having to replace a spool of wire in the middle of welding a nice bead. The wire will always run out right in the middle of a bead. Welding is really not that hard. Investment wise is hard on the wallet though. But then you'll have it and be able to weld up anything. Cut off wheels and flapper discs on an angle grinder are your friends too when learning how to weld. Common saying is that if your not a welder then your a grinder. Don't be scared to weld. You can always cut it off, grind it smooth and start over.
