Fuck ADS. I have their front coil overs. They really are a fantastic shock. Love them. Until I called them about ordering valving shims so I can tune them for my heavier truck and driving like an asshole style. Every time I call them to to fix this, They say, I’ll pass this along to our techs and they will call you back with the solution. They never call me back. So call them again and their solution is to ship the coil overs to them and they will revalue them for me. Okay fine, but that means my truck has to sit on jack stands for a week or two. Not a big deal because it is not my DD. UNTIL, you live in a place that doesn’t allow you to leave a vehicle on jack stands... soooo shit. So I tell them this and I get the same answer, I’ll have a tech give you a call back

So, My shocks are staying the way they are... without enough compression valving.

Oh yeah one more thing, while on the phone with them, they won’t even tell me what thickness of shims are even in their shocks. So even I I get to the point of ordering new shims, I don’t even know what shims are in there so how am I suppose to know what thickness to even order? That’s right I don’t know and again, back to just sending them into ADS to revalue them for me.

Just measure your stack and get a stack heavier.

They are about to be ripped out and replaced with kings if this doesn’t get resolved. So yes, I’ll sell them to anyone who wants ADS shocks that are rebuildable and tunable... but only done by ADS.

Right. But I need shims from ADS to do that. That’s the whole goddamn problem. They won’t send me new shims!!

Oh yeah one more thing, while on the phone with them, they won’t even tell me what thickness of shims are even in their shocks

Realistically It should be checked every time a suspension change is made. However with my own hanger replacement and based on what I've seen on the Archive one, they allow the shackle to rotate a bit more down and provide a bit more droop. Most of us aren't doing things that could cause frequently and violent shock top out, but it's silly to put in custom mods and not appropriately protect everything at the same time when the cost of straps and installation is nothing compared to everything else.

Certainly an extreme case but why risk something like this?

That's what I'm saying they probably keeping it quiet as a trade secret or whatever. Pull a shock apart and measure your shim size. Be like i got a stack of 15s sell me some 20s.

Exactly. But I can’t leave my truck on jack stands overnight while this all happenes so that means I have to pull the shock apart, measure, put it all back together so my landlord doesn’t evict me. Then call ADS and pray they will actually send me shims.

Or those fuckers could just send me thicker shims and this whole problem gets solved. I’m just tired of being jerked around for something so simple.

You could also call DSMS and explain the situation and they can figure out and get the shims you need. In fact they probably already know what is in them off the top of their heads

I've got a set of broken bilsteins you could have, if you make it over to pick up the bumps. You can just take the CO to install on your truck while you wait to have the shocks revalved

I’ll try this next. When I called DSMS, the sales guy make it seem like I wanna as putting him out for ordering over the phone instead of online because I had a certain bypass layout.

Shit... maybe @AssBurns is right.... I am the source of the problem and I am a douche!

Called them again this morning. This time talked to the tech, Tyler. Same thing - gave him my truck specs again (700# springs, truck weight on front and rear axles and I drive 16 year old who stole daddy's truck), Told him I need more compression vaulting to keep me out of the bump stops. He asks me what shims are in there right now... hahahahahaha I just laughed and told him I have no idea cause you guys won't tell me and it is what ever you shipped them with. I told him I want to try to get about 30% more compression and asked him about running a flutter shim... He did answer this one and ADS shocks come from the factory with a flutter already there. pretty damn cool their shocks come with a flutter shim in there.

But that's as far as I got. He said he is going to work on putting a shim stack together for me and call me back with pricing and shipping. So fingers crossed he call me back.
