oh yeah, I've had my eyes set on those for a little while...I got Superbumps for the rear first thinking I would need them more than the fronts with all the weight in the back, but I only felt the rear bumps maybe twice the entire trip while the fronts kept jarring my teeth out. Shoulda gone with those first.

I've heard not so good things about Timbrens though which is why I'm a little hesitant...Wheeler's doesn't sell their Superbumps for the fronts on 1st gens, only rears...but I've read somewhere that they can be used on the front. I need to verify that though.

Honestly they look easy enough to remove I might just try it and see if it works. There are 4 total though in the front, 2 per side. Shaped differently than the rears but that shouldn't matter since the Superbumps are as well.

not sure there's a whole lot more you can do aside from LT. Bypass maybe? :notsure:you got a pretty nice setup! My front end is pretty maxed out for a mid travel, was thinking adding a bypass would help with any gnarly dips or whoops but i still need to finish my rear lol

Yeah I think at some point, being so weighed down with gear and heavy tires makes a ride rough no matter what you do. I don't need to go @Airdog fast necessarily, I'm happy with how fast I'm able to go now with the Kings/Icons as opposed to my previous entry level setup. But running the stock bump stops is definitely killing me, those things are like bricks

Lol, I get ya. That's mainly what the deal breaker is, uppers and lowers are so damn expensive. It's not the shocks, not the axles, it's those arms. I keep waiting for someone to do it more affordably, but right now the playing field is pretty level between TC, Camburg, and DK for the more affordable kits and then it only goes up from there.

Sounds like a good trip. What kind of setup do you have on your 85?

Basic broke guy shit haha. Dakar rear leafs, some pro comp fronts giving me about 3”, 33s, moved my axle forward 1 3/8”,some armor, spooled in the rear.

Saving up now for crossover up front and a truss.
Scored some 4.88s recently for cheap so I’m also saving to install those and throw a locker in the front while I’m at it

Keep an eye out on the pirate classifieds. I scored a Marlin hi-steer kit for $250 lightly used. Did the truck come with that leaf setup, or did you just want to do something different than Chevy's in the rear and RUF?

No I got the truck almost 7 years ago and wheeled the shit out of it stock for a long time.
I broke a few leafs in the rear so ruf was out of the question. Basically went with the Dakar’s as they were easy and bolt on but they don’t flex like I would like. The fronts I was going to build my own pack but last second changed my mind and just bought some cheapies to get me by( my fronts we’re sagging so bad I was almost on my bumpstops). They’re some pro comp leafs that are only a 3 pack so they flex pretty decent.

You have a lot of discipline if you had the truck for 7 years without hacking it up.

Haha yea the first 2 years I thought stock was enough, and for truck you can get a lot done with the right skill set....then the next 4 years I had 2 kids, and a career change. And the dust has finally settled its game on lol

Yep i know . I definitely have the clearance now. So if I throw these 4.88s in it will only be until I wear out my new tires which could take years lol
