i trip the F'out every time i drive to LA to visit my sister, used go out there a lot when i was kid but now driving i notice so much more.....traffic, people, how fast paced life is in general out there compared to out here. i like going just to visit especially to get out of this valley.

oh yeah, I forgot about parking garages...Rebecca lived in Hollywood when we first started dating and I was driving out there in my truck a few times a week...talk about a terrible place to drive and have to park your truck at night. Surprised I never got anything stolen or broken into, although most nights I got lucky her neighbor didn't have a car and I could use his gated spot. But I had to park with my truck halfway out of it because my roof rack wouldn't fit underneath the covered section, lol.

Also most public parking garages in Hollywood/LA have a ~7ft overhead limit when you get to the 2nd or 3rd + levels...I barely fit through them right now as is, you guys wouldn't stand a chance haha.

Drive to and from DTLA is not bad if you know the backways. And driving around the streets once your here isn't bad either. I come in the streets from China town to and from work. I only hit a little traffic on the way home where 2 north hits 210 west.
If you wanna see some real traffic head over to the westside Santa Monica area.

My truck fits in the parking garage @ work. I think it will still fit with 35s but I would have inches to spare.
The entrance I use has the warning bar at 7' 1"

I can't remember where it was but it was somewhere in Hollywood...I drove into a parking garage and by the 3rd level I was actually ducking my head in the truck as a kind of instinctual reaction to thinking I was going to hit the overhang...I barely cleared it in my truck. Must have been under 7ft.

Our garage has two entrances ... one 8th St that is level 2 or 3 with the crash bar @ 6' 1" or 6' 2" and I hit the bar just barely.
    I don't use that entrance

The second entrance is on 7th St and thats the one with the crash bar @ 7' 1".

But I hear you. Even with almost a foot of clearance I still duck my head going through the garage.

Everything around the 10 Freeway from PCH to Downtown LA is a joke. I use to drive home from Santa Monica on 10 Freeway east to 110 to 5 freeway when I lived in Glendale. That takes at least 2 hours in rush hours. Cant even count how many motorcycle accidents I would see over the years. Dead bikers everywhere on the 10. Spliting lanes on a freeway that barely moves is super dangerous.

I may go 34s, but probably gonna stay on 33s. Least until gears are in the budget... But then I'll want to buy a supercharger, and then I'll want to go long travel again, and then I'll want to do lockers and OBA before all that. You know what - Fuck TW.

@oni06 cover your ears.....I agree, it's fun on the street but all it's ever done for me on the trail is create more heat and exacerbate any lean/rich/exhaust issues there might be. It's a constant battle and rabbit hole in it's own right. Mine came with my truck so I've learned to make it work but if I had known how much money I was going to dump into the blower alone when I got the truck, I definitely would have sold the supercharger and put that money toward other things. I'm in too deep now so I'm doing what I can to make it run perfectly one day.

But...then you downshift on the freeway and hear the blower whine and it makes you love it all over again, it's like an unhealthy relationship you can't get out of.

Don't need to cover my ears.

1st gen S/C and 2nd gen S/C have one major difference when it comes to heat and that is the 2nd gen comes with an intercooler/radiator.
Tuning for the Tacoma S/C has always been a bitch. I think I went the correct route by jumping on the UCON when it came out for the 2009-2015 models. If I hadn't I would probably be hating it. TRD tune works for some but runs rich for others and the bullydog tune just sucked ass for most people
I agree 100% its a rabbit hole. Right now its working well on my truck and it makes it so much more fun to drive on the street. I eventually plan to jump down the rabbit hole but I want to finish other things first.

Lets face it the truck spends most of its time on the street even though I would like to have it in the dirt more.

this is true, after I posted I thought to myself that the 2nd gens do have more ability to perfect their tune (technically I don't even get to tune mine, have to run a piggyback) so that's a big advantage the 4.0 has.

I go back and forth on it, once I get my AFR gauge we'll see where I'm at...I'm a little afraid it's just going to make it harder for me to 'justify denial' as to where my lean issues still are. But that could be a good thing and finally help me pinpoint where I need to look to get rid of them once and for all.

BTW you up for some wheeling this Saturday? Buddy of mine wants to go out with me again and I've got the weekend free

Don't know if its overrated but its definitely not for everyone. Its definitely a nice to have and not a need to have.

But I agree gears and lockers are a better bet and if someone wanted both but couldn't afford both I would steer them to gears and lockers first.
