The motor will still work but without the sensor the 4wd module doesn’t know what to do and stops all functions. Try tuning the ignition on and off to see if it resets and sends power to the motor the first time you press the button when you turn the ignition back on.

Crazy day today on Miller Jeep Trail... @oni06 and I ran into a couple guys in an older 80's Ranger we invited to follow us up Lockwood, but they couldn't make it up the first obstacle and nearly backed over a steep dropoff. So we brought out my strap to pull him back over (his rear wheels were off the side)...one of them hooked the strap up to his front end but as soon as we started pulling him the strap cracked his radiator and within 5 min all his coolant was on the ground...turns out he hooked the strap up by a crossmember that held his radiator in place.

So...we reconnected it correctly and eventually got him off the hill and down to a flat spot. Ran them back into town (luckily we weren't too far into the trail) and there happened to be a Napa by the 5 off the grapevine that had the radiator he needed. Got them back to their truck and they installed it and headed back out.

We eventually finished the trail...no pics of said recovery mission but got some videos of MJT, here's one

Still a good day and glad would could help get those guys out.
This is one of the reasons its always good to have a wheeling buddy.

This was only the second time for me running MJT and it wasn't nearly as hard as I remember last year.

Yeah they were cool dudes, couple of Navy mechanics if I remember right? They got their new radiator in pretty quick lol.

Sort of good it happened when it did I guess...if they had gone further up that hill it would have been a lot harder to get them down safely.

Yeah a few of those obstacles on MJT looked like they got filled in with mud/dirt runoff from the rains. Probably get back to normal again over summer with the trail traffic.

And then there is the BIG ASS tree across the trail just as you get to the end of lockwood and the camp ground

yeah, that was a bit of a surprise rounding that switchback and seeing that big ass tree blocking the trail. Luckily there was a way around it, no way we were going to be able to pull that off the trail.

Here's that one video I got of you with my phone, I stopped it right before going over to check your rear bumper and didn't get you actually going over. I think Spencer got some good videos of you going up the other parts of the trail though.

Same exact spot where Alex and Steve both smashed their stock 3rd gen bumpers, haha. Put that Pelfrey high clearance to good use

    Whole lotta stuff
Tackled the front suspension yesterday. Complete success with exception of the bushings still needing to be greased. It may be just a tad higher in the front until I get my leafs and hangers installed. Can't wait to get my wheels and tires swapped over.

Finally got my AFR gauge and hooked it up today...learned a thing or two about wiring in the process. Ignore the zero on the gauge, the camera phone can't keep up with the LED lights.

Now I just need to learn how to interpret the damn thing...

Also ignore the gaff tape mounting job lol...not sure exactly where I want to mount it yet.

You should see 14-14.7 in closed loop and open loop will vary with tuning.

Yeah I'm definitely seeing anywhere from 14 - 14.7 at idle or cruising...did a couple pulls in the neighborhood, got to maybe 4psi of boost and saw the numbers dip to high 12s but they jump all over so quickly it's hard to say for sure. Letting off throttle right after a pull and they shoot up to 17s then level out at mid 14s again

Really curious to see what the numbers are entering the freeway or under load going up a grade like the Grapevine...that's where I'm still hearing the most pinging.

When you take your foot off the throttle those numbers are normal. I’d be interested to see your wot numbers.

Yeah I haven't really gotten the chance to try that yet, picking my gf up from the airport in Burbank later this afternoon so I should get a good chance to see those numbers then. I'll keep you posted, thanks again for welding the O2 bung for me and the exhaust chop on Friday:cheers:
My truck is a lot quieter now without that TRD exhaust end. Not necessarily a bad thing but took some getting used to haha.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
It's normal to see AFR spike during engine breaking it leans out. I've been watching AFR/air temp/throttle and MAF sensors via Torque on the Miata lately. Trying to decide if I wanna mess with the intake. :D

yeah I used to use my Torque App for that but my understanding is that you can't get an accurate wideband AFR reading that way...or something like that. But maybe it's different for other vehicles or N/A vehicles. It is a really good app for monitoring other readings though, I use it for my engine/air intake temps as well. Drains my phone's battery like a mofo though...

@glorifiedwelder I did a couple WOT pulls and from what I can tell, I'm seeing high 12's at WOT on the freeway in 4th and 5th gears. In 5th I heard a bit of pinging when getting that number (RPMs were at about 2300 and climbing so they may have been a bit too low for WOT in 5th gear in that case).

Haven't seen anything under mid 12's yet on my gauge while in boost. ~1 - 3lbs of boost or so and I'm seeing high 13s and low 14s, which is a little lean, no? I really only ever hear pinging in the higher gears at higher speeds.

This would be rich. Air:Fuel 14.7:1 is stoich and + is more air or leaner.

I'm not sure how Torque would be inaccurate... it's read straight off the ECU? Unless the reader was bad (giving errors) or the app isn't updating fast enough. Either way the physical graph readout is junk for that anyway. I'd run the logging and email myself the CSV for actual processing.

ah yeah you're right, I keep switching it up thinking lean/rich goes the other way.

Still learning how this stuff works but if I had to guess, it's based on the placement on the O2 sensor...the gauge comes with a new O2 sensor that gets installed pre-cats (after the headers) so it's reading differently than the stock sensors that are after the cats...maybe?
