Both Cleghorn and Pilot Rock have staging areas right before the trail...they're both really popular with dirt bikes and ATVs so you usually see several tow rigs there. I prefer Pilot Rock as the harder portion is more technical than Cleghorn generally is. I'll confirm by Wed though but I should be good

Sucks it's going to be hot a balls but oh well...I've got a clicking in my front end that sounds like a bad CV so I need to see if I can make it go boom and have a solid excuse to replace it.

...but hopefully it doesn't happen on a steep hill.

Im 33”s, 4:56, auto trans, and it’s a daily. Like Danny said, you jump RPMs in higher speeds so I would say it depends on your commute mostly. The power difference isn’t too noticeable when street driving but it makes night /day difference on the dirt. Your weight is also going to be a factor. Idk what your plans are but if you’re planning on full armor and such the 4:88s would be nice once in 35s.

    That’s not bad. I want to say I’m at that with 33”s and 4:56. I don’t drive 80 a lot though. Maybe I’m around 2700.

Isn’t the difference between the two minimal when looking at numbers? Like 10%?

    This...

Ha... I'm lucky to get 14 with E rated 32s (275/70/17) on stock gears with my minivan engine.

Are you guys taking into consideration the size difference or just going off the odometer? I get 17 with e-rated 33s and stock gearing. Obd2 scanner has shown even above 21mpg on road trips

17 with the size difference (which I think is close to 7%). I would expect you to get at least 17 with 2wd, that's what my PreRunner got as well. I'm surprised my 4x4 has been getting 17 mpg the last few tanks.

With the auto trans 488s all the way. You’d not want to go 456 then regret not going 488s later. With the 488s your trans will like you better also. With the additional weight of armor, tires, etc... 488s is the way to go

Yeah I've been thinking about it today and for the RPM range even with a 33" tire, 4.88s sound like the better option and will keep paying dividends with 35s as well. Thanks for the input everybody!
