We are interested but it will depend on how much prep work Shane, @desertjunkie760, gets done to the truck on Saturday. The rear locker still isn't fixed but we're still 4x.

He asked me to notify you all since he got himself the 30 day ban hammer. :smack:

Are you heading up Saturday or Sunday morning? I have Monday off but he does not.

I didn't know Shane got banned lol, yeah you guys should come join us! @DarthPow and I are headed up there on Sunday morning, haven't decided on a specific meet time yet but I'll add you to our private chat so we can plan it out tomorrow. Should be fine with just 4x4, don't expect there to be snow on Heartbreak ridge and it's not a very technical trail from what I gather. You guys free on Sunday?

I hear ya, I usually prefer Saturdays myself so I have Sunday to relax afterward before going back to work.. But Sunday worked out best for all this time around. Wish I had Monday off though lol

Tons, we couldn't finish the Pontiac loop because it was so snowed over and slick. Kept losing traction and sliding down the hill lol. Only the shady sides of their mountain on Heartbreak were bad but they were pretty bad. Big Bear had a bunch of snow still at the ~6kft Mark

Nah we took the 38 down after Heartbreak, was getting dark at that point...trail took us longer than we anticipated from the snow. But the fire roads up into Big Bear from Heartbreak were pretty well snowed over, alot of mud too

Well chit. Here I am, haven't installed my 4.88 gears yet. Still in the box and now everyone in the LT threads is telling me 4.88s are too tall for daily driving and I'll take at least a 3 mpg hit and I go 4.56s instead. After paying so much for gears I'm pretty bummed. I already only get 13 mpg, course I didn't buy this rig for MPG but going from 31s to 33s was already a 6 mpg hit so I'm gonna stay 33s. And I'm spending 100$ a week on gas, so now I don't know if regearing is even worth it. Been looking for someone to install my bypasses for 4 months now, so far no one wants me to pay them to do it. Bout ready to start selling parts. Because they're just sitting on shelves. :pout:

Do some research as far as what dif and trans ratios you have (stock). Then go to this link: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html Type in your info and see what kind of RPM you will be running with your new setup vs stock setup at different speeds. Excessively high RPM = less mileage. You can also compare 4.56 and 4.88 with that calculator. Everyone has different setups and different idea's of what is acceptable.

I run 4.88's and 33's on a 5 speed manual and sit at 3000rpm at 75. You will sit a little lower than that based on the auto's gear ratios.

I don't want to take a 9-10 mpg hit just from tires and gears that are 2" bigger in diameter than stock. Paying over $100 a week in gas right now is another car payment, and I lose half a tank just driving to redlands. Either the fuel mapping on this 4.0L is a joke or someone's feeding me bad information.

No, no, you're not listening. I'm fine with the 13 mpg I'm getting with stock gears and 33s. I feel that is reasonable considering modifications, what is unreasonable is regearing and taking another 30% lose in mileage and paying a 25% increase in fuel costs according to quick math. That is what I was being told. And if that was true, fuck regearing. I ain't doing it.

Preferably both while down there. Archive relocation so weld on towers/axle tabs with 14" bypass. DMZ told me to get lost unil July, TC told me to get lost, and Jason hasn't given me any sort of timeline on when he could do it.

You’re a 4Runner. I don’t don’t think we have the same trans, do we? If you’re wondering why I’m not paying attention to your statistic is because I don’t think that is a great comparison.

Either way, think I’m going to drop to 4.56.

Okay, well since I'm 33s and do mostly highway, 4.56s are looking like a better option for me. I originally wanted to keep the option open for 35s, but I'm beginning to reconsider since it's my daily and I want to be able to live with it and take it on some trips. Right now on stock gearing, it's just a pain in the ass.
