    Completely understood.

I plan to pick my daughter up after school and head out there.

She starts back again on the 15th.

Yeah I don't know. Seems odd going back to school during summer. It's like the teachers union is trying to shift the seasons.:spy:

yeah, you were telling me about you less than satisfactory experience with them. Bummer about all those nails and a screw. Tires are a lot like, well tires. Tons of options - no sure fire, one tire to meet everyone demands route. Goodyear MTR tires are an example of an E rated made of Kevlar tire that time and time again the stories of a failed sidewall has left the owner ticked off because the Kevlar is no tougher than the knees of the local brothels seasoned vets. However, I'll be moving on from duratracs as well because they don't come in 255. I think I'll be going with the ST Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Exactly. I want the 80mm sidewall for sure.

damn! These pics were awesome great camera work. Very cool trucks. Instead of trying to trade in my long bed prerunner for a 4x4 I'm considering picking up a 1st gen taco 4x4 and making it trail/rock worthy.

    1st gen best gen! :taco:

I might be a little biased though.

Get a 1st gen TRD 4x4 and it'll take you anywhere you wanna go, I've never been let down by mine. Lift, sliders, good tires and you're set. I've got a million other things I want to do to it but they'll happen in time

Some of the Big Bear trails can get pretty gnarly. Make sure to look em up before hitting em. John Bull and Dishpan Springs are some of the toughest in so cal. What we did Saturday is a little taste of those. Might have to join you for a day trip:thumbsup:

Yeah I figure it'd be fun to hit up a few of those trails just for the day, nothing too insane as I want to make sure my truck is good to go for the following weekend lol. Plus, meet a few new peeps that aren't on this thread.

Still trying to decide if I want to get my throwout bearing replaced before Pismo or not, it's chirping like a room full of crickets. Expensive labor job though :(

Plus, if you can swing it, it's always better to have a dedicated trail rig aside from your daily driver. Every time we go out I'm always worried in the back of my mind about something happening to my only mode of transportation :rain:

the wheels are spinning. I recently picked up my prerunner used (first truck) and just took it on dirt a few times. Fell in love with the dirt and wanna do more. I still have my old daily driver car that I haven't decided what to do with. Not worth much, runs great. Hmmmmm.

haha no. My idea would be to dump my prerunner, buy a 1st gen for less and mod it, use my old Toyota matrix as my daily driver.

Common misconception. The kevlar is not on the sidewalls, its on the tread. I have ran the earlier version of MTR's and now the "new" ones. Never had a flat or puncture yet. Yes life is about 30k miles, yes they chunk and dont look pretty. As always YMMV.

Well...a lot of guys do wheel their 2wd Prerunners (I used to be one of them) but in my experience, once you fall in love with wheeling you'll never be satisfied with 2wd. There are too many limitations and getting stuck really blows. Unless you want to mod it into a desert racing kind of truck (a "true" Prerunner), I'd put the plan into motion of getting into a 4wd first gen in the future.
