Dial him in, brotha. Bring him to a meet. In the end it's all about having a good time. Type of build and budget are the most important questions in my opinion. If he's patient and watches group buys and buyers remorse for sale postings (ie, I bought 5100's but now I want icons or OME or kings yadda so I'm gonna sacrifice and lose my ass selling my 5100's) then he can piece together a great setup and a good price.

No, Hi Tek Transmission in Pasadena. They had great reviews so I'm kind of surprised to be honest. But the shop is super small and shanty looking, so on the other hand I'm not surprised.

I looked into Clutch Masters but I read some pretty bad things about them (also some really good ones, but the bad/good ratio was less with the other place I went to). I should've just taken it to Toyota since it was a specialized clutch, when I brought it to the other shop they sort of looked at it funny and I could tell they hadn't done one before. But their price was 1/3 what Toyota wanted to charge. Lesson learned...

I average 17, sometimes 18mpg per tank on mine, and it's a supercharged extra cab.

Yeah something's definitely up with his 4 banger, those little engines are usually notorious for getting pretty good to great gas mileage for an older pickup. Weird it's so low

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
You've seen how heavy his foot is.

I think the 22r was the carbureted one and the 22re was the fuel injected version. But yeah, those little engines could take a beating for sure and keep on trucking. The wrong spark plugs could be the culprit, I know the 1st gens especially don't like anything other than the stock copper plugs unless you have a good reason for upgrading (forced induction).

@dtaco06 , you have icons, correct? Or was it Icon UCAs you have? I have a question for you regarding icon shocks.

Have you rebuilt them? Do they have schraeder valves on them or some flat rubber piece where one should be for re charging?

lol, yessir. BTW do you run an OEM Toyota (Aisin I think) clutch assembly on your truck with the supercharger? Or an upgraded one?

I'm just worried about Toyota putting an OEM assembly back in since my throwout bearing went bad on the last one at < 30k miles. But I think it might have had to do with how the PO drove it.

Well, if my OEM one goes out again (by god it better not for at least a couple years), I'll look into that one. Did you have Clutch Masters do the work?

Alex and I were thinking about doing Big Bear this weekend since we couldn't last weekend. Either way I'm down for something, I have an appt. on Saturday morning so hopefully we can plan on Sunday or Monday. I can push the appt. back a week if I need to though.
