Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

Well the tires are a problem everywhere but the track! There's a few spots where stick gave @eon_blue and our new friends @Karazi TEQ a few problems. Like almost running over his spotter!

Yeah I wish I had snapped a photo of that spot. If I hadn't been stock height it wouldn't have been an issue but that sharp drop off was tricky. Having to put a manual into reverse while your in 4lo on a steep decline rounding a tight corner with a sharp drop-off is no fun...I think I knocked a few thousand miles off of my clutch right there :annoyed:

Pshhh you don't need tires for going fast and prerunning :burnrubber:

In all seriousness though these tires though bald as fuck have never failed me. I've used them on snow and gone through deep mud puddles while fully inflated and been fine. Its like a miracle that never ends :D I don't recommend anyone try it though :bananadead:

Yeah I hate situations like that. Its either burn your clutch or spin your tires and dig yourself in. Times like that make me wish I had auto or crawl control :puke:

Haha yeah there was a point during Cleghorn that was similar...I've always prided myself in knowing how to drive stick but off roading in one really tests your limits and sometimes stomps on your ego lol

The way the drop worked the angle was just a fuck. Go figure in 7 gopro videos spanning like an hour and a half of footage and that exact moment was when my battery chose to die. You see us drive up to it and get out to talk to @Karazi TEQ then boom dead. I took the "fun" side which worked out for me but it was definitely a sudden drop. The other side was all about picking the line right so you could ride the rocks down.

If we actually go next weekend (here's to hoping!) you'll see!

Also: 4L helps save your brakes :D

Doesn't the abs freak out in those steep hills too? I know when @FirstGen Jer and I did that hill last weekend, the Tundra's started freaking out and made me slide more so I used my ebrake as well

Edit: I was already in 4L. Truck is just so heavy that it doesn't do as much

Also a benefit of 4L: no traction control is turned on when you drop into 4L. Otherwise: yes sliding will make every form of traction control throw the absolute loudest "light filled" fit ever.

Oh right your newer truck has all that fancy shit. The Tundra is 03 and doesn't have a way to turn abs off. In order to do that you have to find the abs wire and splice a switch into it. If it was my truck I'd do it in a heart beat. I hate abs

There should be a way to turn of traction control in 2wd and 4H as well. @FireGuy88 and I were able to figure out how to turn his off in the 3rd gen

Yeah I'm going with my dad, he got us in with an REI group that's going. Last summer we hiked and camped through the Yosemite backcountry. That reminds me I should really start training for it...

The offroad package has a button to turn it off in any mode: although I find the locker-anytime mod works WAY better.

Y'know. This GoPro and I don't understand each other very well for some reason? Mine has Wifi which I think I usually leave on, I also have it record at 1080p (which it decided to also not do for this trip) so I think it just chews up the battery? I have a second one I usually carry.

Yours doesn't have a button for it?

See this is one of the reasons I like my old ass runner. No computers to tell me what I can and can't do. I ised to have a saying that it only had enough of a computer to tell me right before my engine would blow up. Well, it wasn't even advanced enough to tell me that! :frusty:

This reminded me, early on yesterday when we were climbing one of the first hills, I was in 4H and 1st gear and when I got close to the top (steeper part just before it leveled out) my truck started to lose power, I had the gas pedal almost floored and it wasn't delivering anything to the wheels and it felt like it was on it's way to stall. Then the wheels suddently gained traction and all the power came back (almost too much being I had the pedal down). Weird...I wonder if I just didn't have enough momentum to warrant the high gearing I was using? Anyway after that I made sure to keep her in 4lo in first or second gear whenever doing any climbs, worked like a dream

Mine has more buttons than I know what to do with. Including one that shuts off side curtain airbags. Go figure.

Computers and I are good friends. :pccoffee:

Interesting, were you slipping? That'll eat power with the way our differentials work. I don't remember seeing a bunch of dust coming off your truck at any of the climbs? You stick guys got it easy for the 4Lo transitions...
