    IMAG0008.jpg After doing some x-mas shopping this morning, I come out from a store and see some fluid under my front right end. Yup CV boot has a big tear. It was time for it to go but I was hoping it would last a bit longer. What a bitch!

    Not looking forward to that. Anybody with experience I would appreciate the input. Would it be "better" to just replace the whole axle assembly(new axle, new cv joints, new boots) or try to save a little money and tear it completely apart and just replace the boots? Input welcome.

    Shouldn't be bad at all. Remove axle and cv's, pull the Jesus clips, slide the cv's off, pull old boot, replace, pack cv's with grease, reassemble....unless toyotas are different. Just inspect the chase, cage and bearings for scuffs when it's apart. If there are any Knicks or scuffs replace em

    Thanks man. I've done cv's on some Yamaha quads and rhinos but not my truck yet. Seems pretty straight forward. Question, will I have to drain the front diff before removing front axles? Will fluid poor out everywhere? Headed to go get left and right boot kits. Should be a fun Sunday.

    I'd assume so. I've only done cv's on transaxle and I usually toss a drip pan under it and do the top 6 bolts, spin it and do the other 6, pop the cv off and pUT the bolts back in to keep as much fluid in as I can
