RAMPS! haha. I only didn't need them because of my shorter wheelbase and even then, I bottomed out really hard a few times on that spot. That part was brutal to both of us

That was weird that it stalled, wonder why that happened?

Yes they will if you register your 2wd for off road use. I know this is an old quote but I just want to inform TW that your prerunner can be register for OR.

That is so painful to watch. Ryan is a pretty good spotter but I just need to keep my mouth shut, or go to spotting school.

Those old timers new what they were doing you almost had it!

I have while wheeling in my last pickup (auto) but it was because of a dirty MAF sensor.

I suspect that it happened here for the same reason I stalled a few times on the rocks in my manual, the truck needs to be given enough gas to get over an obstacle but when it's rocking back and forth it's difficult to gauge when and how much to give. Since it didn't happen before or after that I'd chalk it up to just a freak incident

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

I would say no way, at least not the Miller Jeep trail. Even in 4x4 with lockers we had trouble. I had a Prerunner before this truck that I wheeled the hell out of, and when I put a locker in it I was able to keep up with a lot of 4x4 guys, but having experienced both I would never attempt this trail in 2wd.

You could probably get pretty far but it gets really hairy about mid-way through and having to find a way to turn back around and attempt to do it going back to get out would be really treacherous without 4wd.

The Rowher meet at the end of next month would be good for both 4x4 and Prerunners, there's a lot of different trails to choose from there :)

I was aired down pretty low (18 psi) but my main issue was ground clearance. I never got stuck, but I banged the hell out of my skid plates. Sitting at stock first gen height currently.

Thanks for the info... my next purchase is an ARB locker and high clearance rear bumper... in March 2017 I do a 4x4 conversion of my pre-runner.

Good point and we did talk about that. We were scared of popping a bead on a tire that would of been really bad news, and the ground clearance problem Ryan just mentioned.

Nice! Having equal power to both rear wheels when you need it makes a night/day difference when wheeling in 2wd.

There's really no substitution for 4lo though, and in some situations it's necessary. Good luck with your conversion!

I was able to pretty much pick lines and crawl up everything else.

The large rocks and dug out terrain proved to be too much for my limited slip in that one section. If you watch the videos it's clear that a locked rear would have kept me moving forward on my first attempt.

    Was definitely frustrating.

A locked 2wd may have been better off, but I'd like to think 4wd with limited slip is still more capable than locked 2wd. :notsure:

This is a very good question... will a locked 2wd do better vs a 4wd with LSD?

No A-trac for me. Just 4lo.

Did great everywhere else. Was really happy and at times surprised by the performance.

    Then that section happened. :frusty:

I honestly doubt it. Steep climbs really make the difference when you've got two wheels pulling up front with the majority of the trucks weight right behind. The rear is light and tends to hop so I think that would be a clear disadvantage.

I'm sure in other situations the 2wd locked might prevail. Like sand, maybe.
