Im looking to purchase a set of black steel 16's from wheelers, i can only find the general picture of the rim. Anyone got these wheels on the trucks and have pictures? Or any recommendations for black steel wheels similar to these that will fit over the calipers, for an 01 DC 4x4.

    I had the Wheeler's 16 X 8 steel wheels...
they clear the oem calipers and the early tundra caliper upgrade.

look in my sig links for pictures of those.

I've since swapped to ProComp # 8069-6883 alloy wheels
the same ones that Wheeler's used to sell.

Wheeler's still offers the steel wheels I believe.
But has since discontinued sales of the alloy wheels.
^ both steel and alloy wheels that were sold thru Wheeler's
are mfg'rd by ProComp (but were special ordered by Wheelers)

    * Wheeler's ordered special offsets
for the their wheel's center chunk design..
This ensures the brake calipers will clear the wheel properly.

How do you like the alloys over steel?

honestly... I couldn't really tell any discernible difference.

likely a lighter wheel then steel...
but I also moved up in tire size (285 - 295)
so the lighter alloy wheel was not much in compensation.

IMHO... I should have stuck with the steel wheels
    I previously had installed.
And retained my 285's as well.

My lack of hindsight... required more physical effort
and lots more money spent to wedge 295's into my wheel wells.
And that wasn't really worth the price of admission. IMO

The design of my alloy wheel(s) required that
I extend the the lug lengths to get enough thread bite.

The advantage of steel wheels is...

I once bent a steel wheel and got a flat on the trail.
but I was able to beat the wheel lip somewhat back into place.
It held air and got me off the trail.

    That next week...
took the wheel to a shop...
and they straightened it up much better.
Good as new, as far as I could tell.
Balanced fine... and a little black paint fixed up the battle scars.

^ might not get so lucky using alloy wheels...
not too easy to straighten out, once bent.
and occasionally an alloy may crack, rather then bend.

    bottom line...

I wasn't too careful when rolling steel wheels...
because I knew I could get 'er off the trail if necessary.

But with the alloys... I have to be more careful.

btw... most all of the pics of me wheeling my junk...
are when the steel wheeler's wheels were still in use.
^ (seen in the links of my sig)

I have not wheeled these alloy's with the same gusto
and disregard as I did when rolling steel wheels.

That looks rad. I'm going the same route, but with 33s. How wide are those tires?

Not sure if this is new or not, but I noticed they also sell the D-Window steel wheels in 16x8:

How'd you guys decide on the width?

I've been planning 12.5 but friends are talking me out of it.

Yeah, no more wheelers steelies, pro comp sold something similar known as the 87T but looks like they don’t sell those either...

If you go steelie, the spares or tundra steelies look gouda and fit the tundra brake upgrade
