Okay, so I just got this incredibly built Taco (thanks, Ray), that I'm itching to take off road, but my wife has made me promise not to beat it up anymore than it already is until its paid off (4 yrs [IMG]). Unfortunately in my younger, stupider days, I've done some significant damage to prior vehicles, not because I was doing some challenging off roading, but because I just didn't know what I was doing (which, admittedly, I've only partially remedied). In other words, I need some places to wheel that are far below my Taco's (but probably not my) capabilities, and people to go with that can put up with someone that's pretty low on the learning curve (as well as people who can put up with someone who, by necessity, has to baby his rig).

Is anyone out there willing to take a rookie along on one of their lighter trail rides in the MD, Southern PA, Eastern WV, Northern VA area, Delaware, or Southern NJ area? I'd just love to meet people who have an interest in responsible offroading.

There isn't much in MD to play with. There is a few places in Jersey that are pretty cool though. Check out the New Jersey B.S. Thread.

head up to Rausch creek. should only be about a 3 hour drive +/- from baltimore. their entire park is rated similar to a ski slope. stay on the greens and you'll be just fine. then when you're comfortable (and wifey allows) try some of the blues.
