Like chris said, you shorting them out doesnt mean anything other than your battery has enuf power to short itself out.

It looks like you had a pretty nice truck. IMHO you need to take better care of it and not abuse the hell out of it. I am not trying to preach at you, ( I did the same stuff when I was your age) Buy you a 4 wheeler to do these bad holes in it is the hardedst thing you can do to a truck. Look at you transfer case, the caked on mud gets everywhere and you will most likely never get it all gone. Even if you do, its proably to late bc it has allready worked on your seals, bearings, and other components it ruins.

As for the electrical problem, check your battery and connections real good. Use a voltmeter, set it to 20 volts DC, and see what you have on you battery, then on your starter/ or solenoid.
After the whole truck going swimming who knows? BC it looks loke your starter was submerged, and who knows what else.
When dealing with with electrical issues, Check for grounding issues, and bad connections.

You just cant wheel like that in something you need to drive everyday. Even if it is a Toyota!
I hope your truck is worth more to you than ruining it just to post some pics on TW or Myspace just bc you can.

Sounds like a smart decison !:)
I hate to sound like an old geezer, I am just 29. But honestly some people dont realize how serious wheelin takes it toll on a vehicle. I have been turning wrenches ling enuff myself to learn. (sometimes the hard way too)

After you confirm you have a good battery.Check your electrical connections from the battery to the starter, from there to the ignition, and from there to fuses and relays. Use a volt meter when you can. If you have a maunul tranny try a push start.

Finally after you get it running. Clean the hell out of that truck, take the carpet out of the cab and clan/ dry the floorpan to prevent rust. Pull the wheels off and pressure wash everything, Clean the engine compartment. Cover the igniton components with plastic bags,
Clean and re lube front end/transfercase/rear end/ and grease fittings.
Seriously you could still be cleaning that mud off come August.
    Good Luck !
