In the last two to three weeks, I have lost two of the center hubs on my wheels.
This is the stock tire and wheels on the 22 SR access cab utility package. at $20-$25, its not an expensive replacement but if they keep popping off like this- its going to freaking add up.
I want to find wheels I can keep and use the stock tires 245/75 R16

    anyone else have this happen?
    what wheels should I get?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Toyota design the center cap attachment in a very bizarre manner.
There is a raised ridge on the axle hub. When the wheel is attached to the hub there is a narrow 'channel' or gap between the hub's ridge and the center hole in the wheel. The center cap is made with 4 spring steel catches that snap into this gap or channel. One cannot attach the center cap unless the wheel is securely bolted to the axle hub.
I know this because I picked up a set of steel wheels that were take-offs. The seller gave me the caps as well. Unlike the Gen 2, the center caps would not attach to the wheels. I thought I was getting screwed. Turns out, I had to bolt the steel wheels onto my truck so that the center caps would have a channel, gap, groove (whatever) for the spring clips to snap into.
I don't know why Toyota engineers thought this was better. It is how it works though with the Gen 3s (at least on my 2021 TRD OR AC).
I don't see it as a secure way to fasten the center caps. I can see a slight variation in the lug nut torque causing the spring clips to not engage properly.

SR5 takeoffs will fit your tires.

Agreed, those should be relatively cheap and easy to find

Those center caps are turds. I lost one of them on the drive home from the dealership the day I bought my truck. Luckily I knew I was swapping out the wheels for some OEM alloys.

I went with the OEM alloys off the SX package. They're available in black or anthracite. I think they look great on the SR trim level.

OP, sounds like bad luck, initial install error (or maybe even theft.)

You may be able to get some (silver plastic center caps) for the price of shipping here on TW (I threw mine away while moving from one garage to another.)

I purposefully took those off of my steel wheels.. I just didn't like the plastic look on them. For some reason I don't have the same opinion of the SR5 alloys as I've left the black plastic center-caps on.

I will be replacing the wheels because of the hubs coming off- poor design. but tires??? haven't had an issue with the factory tires and the tread have less then 7,000 miles on. them. so not getting your point?

a set of take offs with the bigger tire size(sr5, sport, OR....ect) are better tires, handle better and look better.....and should have tpms in them which you will need anyway......no need to mount and balance everything, just swap and go
