I have a 21 SR and got a set of takeoffs from a 20 TRD OR. When putting these wheels on it seems like they were extremely tight and wouldn’t fully seat without tightening the lugs (hand tight no impact). So I took them off and was checking around my hubs and there was hardly any rust.

The takeoffs had some buildup from steel on aluminum so I went over them with some fine sandpaper and they fit better but it’s still pretty tight. I couldn’t line the lugs up without grabbing the tires and wiggling them left and right into place.

Im just curious if everyone else has this issue, after seeing another member have issues out of 4Runner wheels not fitting the hub. In my case it has to be a wheel/hub corrosion issue right?

    Normal in rust areas.

a great way to clear the hub is to simply remove the drum or rotor. It ejects the white corrosion.
You don’t need to fully remove the front rotors just pop them using the threaded bolts.

All 2016 and later OEM wheels on any Tacoma trims are interchangeable across all 3rd gen trims and they should fit perfectly in theory.

your struggle might have to do with those specific wheels being deformed slightly and bore is not perfectly round

Clean the hub and wheel center with a wire brush. Add some lube on the hub face like antisieze or even some brake grease

A lot of European cars like land rover and jaguar have that listed as a maintenance item for 30/60/90 etc
