I'm a Subaru owner gone rogue to Tacomas and just bought a very clean 2nd gen 2007 V6 with 16" American Racing wheels and beefy tires (265/75R). The truck didn't come with a spare, so I've been looking for options. I tried taking a wheel from a 2001 4Runner, but had no idea what kind of spacer kit was on the truck - it didn't fit. I have no experience with American Racing or spacers, and was wondering if anyone had any advice.

    A) Should I buy a direct match wheel from American Racing to avoid having to remove the spacer if ever in a situation where I needed to put on the spare?

    B) Does anyone know where I can get a steel wheel that would fit with my current set up?

Any additional thoughts or ideas are super welcome. I'm very new to the world of Tacomas.

It was the center bore, and unfortunately it was off by what seemed like less than 1/16 of an inch! So frustrating. Here's a pic of the hub and spacer with the wheel removed. The tires are beefy, so spacer for neg offset is definitely needed to prevent rubbing.

Just find a spare that someone is selling for $20 or free from their brand new 3rd gen. Facebook, craigslist are good places.

The stock steel should fit and if not, it's so cheap that you can just take some sandpaper to it to make it fit over your current setup. It wouldn't be much less safe than those spacers and thin extruded center cap anyway.

Ah, I bet the wheel you got will fit if you remove that center cap. Maybe grind outa bit the center hole of the wheel you got?

If you’re looking for a spare why don’t you get a spare.

in or under the bed it doesn’t have to look pretty. A stock spare steel wheel is max $50.
I believe there are two kinds. Less small circle holes and oval cutouts being speed limited
Versus full only circle holes (a lot of them) not speed limited.
Can likely come from another 4x4 6-lug not only a Tacoma. Such as FJ etc.

non steelie might not even fit underneath or get scratched.
I don’t even see a point for a regular wheel on a swingout unless you’re cycling it into rotations.
