my fathers 02 has those wheels. Very slight rub with 265/70r16 (Stock) tires. a 1/4" spacer would likely fix it (2nd gen wheels sit more inboard than first gen wheels)

that, or just get some matrix rear wheel studs and put them on the front, run 1/4" wheel spacers and be perfectly fine (i plan on doing that for him when i have time)

i'll have to dig up part numbers tomorrow. about to go to bed actually. im sure if you went to that link that was posted earlier and asked one of the guys running those wheels they'd know what youd need for sure. i still have yet to do it and its all going off what i know from previous projects

IMO...Keep the stock rims. I think the original rims you have on now are the best looking Tacoma/4Runner stock rims. And to be honest, those 2nd gen rims look the worst. I think they look cheap. Even cheaper looking than stock steelies of 1st gens.

I’d keep the stock rims. They seem to be in terrific condition, they suit the truck, and they’ll likely help the truck hold onto its value (and future collectibility) better.

Another vote for the stock rims.

These trucks are getting old enough that an original example actually draws attention and turns heads, whereas 20 years ago they were all over the roads and nobody paid attention. Keep the stock wheels and take pride in the fact that you have a very nice example of one of the best generations of Tacos ever built.

Those 2nd gen wheels will sit pretty far inboard. Looked kinda goofy when I had em on my truck. They were so close to the UCA that I couldnt get my fingernail between the tire and balljoint.

    +1
living the mid west life is tough
nothing much around here anymore that i notice but old Rangers and 1st gens with the crutch
i am always wondering if the young kids that are getting interested in vehicles for the first time, when their heads are not buried in their tech, have any idea what they are looking at

i need to look into getting my wheels refinished, new ones are pricey
