    what he said...

tacoma is a truck, with a selectable transfer case without a center diff. It is not an AWD car.

I had a 1994 Bronco u joints that did the same but not as bad as the taco. I did have to replace the u joints on the Bronco once

If the tires have too much traction (bare pavement, slick rock) you will bind while in 4wd

NO, it's not normal, and don't carry on. NEVER operate in 4X4 on dry hard surfaces on or off road. The truck isn't designed to do so and if you carry on you'll break expensive parts. You have already damaged them. Just because they ain't broke yet doesn't mean damage hasn't happened.

I didn't condone driving on concrete in 4wd but the sensation of the steering binding is a normal feel.

How do you know he damaged anything? It's fairly common to feel some binding on any surface. I've felt my tires hop in the snow during sharp cornering.

Even on snow at full or close to full lock you may experience that binding feeling , try to open the steering and increase the turning radius if possible

You're saying only run 4x on wet surfaces?
