You always hear people say "That's not even broken in yet" when talking about mileage...

What do you consider to be the broken-in point for a 2nd Gen? Rough estimate.

Just a reference meaning they never break down. According to the manual the engine is broken in after 500 miles.

After the Tacoma has been saddled before morning, take the seat by the horn and push/pull it back and forth on the Tacoma's shoulders. If the Tacoma has any intentions of acting up he will show some kind of sign when your are wiggling the seat, i.e. steering wheel back, biting, humping up, kicking, un-easiness. If a Tacoma is good-n-broken then more than likely the movement of the seat won't even bother it -- hope that was clear.

Many years ago car and driver would do a "long term" test on cars occasionally. They would test performance when new and every 10,000 miles or so. If I remember the best performance would peak at about 30,000 miles. I would say given higher tech materials of today the best performance would be somewhere between 30-40K miles. Just my opinion.

I noticed an improvement in performance about 120,000 miles ago, at around 50,000 miles.
