Possibly. Phones amplify certain sounds so it feels loud through my earbuds, but my truck probably makes that sound and Ive never noticed it. How many dealers are in your area? If you want a great way of comparing to other trucks, visit the sales floor of another dealer and take a one for a test drive. See if it shifts or sounds radically different than yours.

Hey OP, if you can, just do the math and see if trading in makes any sense.

I am hoping you already know what you should do- just go with your gut.

Not sure about cutting bait, but you appear to be good at not "taking the bait", as evidenced by your responses.

I hope it all works out for you whatever you decide.

    Cheers.

Exactly... OP should sell the damn truck! Heck, we all should sell these defective 3rd gen’s... why in the hell did we even buy one in the first place? I thought I did my due diligence and research prior to sinking 40K into a new vehicle... THEN I discovered what a mistake I made while reading this forum after my purchase..! Oh yeah, the mistake was discovering this site... had no idea the truck sucked so much until I started reading TW :typing:

My personal experience: if you are already unhappy with the truck, and it sounds like you are, those feelings will only grow. The Tacoma, like any mechanical item, won't change in any positive direction by itself. I'd suggest cutting your losses and getting something that you'll be happy with.

Never hear of an engine or tranny failure just complaints about a noise or don't like the way it shifts.
    Never.

It's not possible to have your cake and eat it too....

You get an "A" for effort though, imo....
