When do I use mine? Hardly ever. They are Baja Designs Squadron Pro lights so can't really use them on road unless there are no other cars around, and even then I'm happy with my TRD Pro LED headlights/highbeams.
I think the last time I clicked them on was to flash some clown that was driving down the road with 3 LED light bars on at night.

If you have the fog lights aimed properly I don’t see any harm in running them all the time. I think it makes the truck look good going down the road. Having said that , if you have aftermarket lights that aren’t DOT approved for road use then I would not use them until you are on a road alone. Also, I have found that a plain Jane halogen bulb works just fine for fogs, but if you go led the lower the kelvin the better they work for vision down the road. I believe I say someone before mention that the brighter the light ( kelvin ) the more it will blind you in dense fog/snow.

I use to run with them whenever it was dark but now I only have them on when its foggy, raining, or if nobody is around. I have the DD Pro's and they're bright.

If you’re driving down the highway with non dot approved lights and pass a trooper/cop/sheriff at any speed higher than a crawl they aren’t going to notice nor take the time to pull you over to check. Those DOT “laws” apply STRICTLY to commercial transports which are inspected on a random yet regular basis. I’ve ran “illegal” mods on my vehicles for years, been pulled over many times, they have even pointed the mods out (no muffler, racing filter, race tires, etc) and let me go, my tickets were always speed related, never for illegal mods. Unless you live in NY or California I don’t see a cop checking your fog lights to make sure they are DOT approved.

Moral of this story is do what ever you want, as far as I know there’s no law saying you can’t run your fogs when ever you want, and if there is then it’s not enforced because everywhere I’ve ever been in the country I see fog lights on and I see people driving around with the brights on ALL THE TIME. Do what you want and forget the “factualopinions” here.

Most people nowadays don't know the difference between FOGLAMPS (YELLOW) and DRIVING LIGHTS (WHITE). I'm not quite sure when driving lights became a "thing" but it seems just about every vehicle has them now. The Europeans have had them longer than us but I believe they actually know when to use them.

Driving lights are designed for long range viewing in low light conditions with no oncoming traffic usually used on the highway or interstate. We have idiots driving around the city with these on blinding other drivers all the time. People use the driving lights as foglamps because they don't know better and it certainly doesn't help that the auto manufacturers even mislabel their DLs as FGs!

Foglamps, again YELLLOW in color, should only be used during bad weather conditions where visibility is poor, ie, fog, heavy snow, etc. The extra brightness of foglamps is doubled by their reflection off a wet road surface which can cause glare through other vehicle windscreens, so don't use them in rain.

Some modern headlights use LED beams which can adapt to different conditions, including fog and poor visibility. These make conventional front foglamps obsolete but doesn't mean you should be driving around town with your DLs on.

Never heard of high beams referred to as driving lights. I’ve seen day time running lights, head lamps, high beams, and fog lights. Maybe in Europe they have different names like an elevator is a lift and a chip is a crisp. I still hold my ground on who the fuck cares and run your fogs how you want, as long as they aren’t blinding anyone what does it hurt? Does it really need to be a debate?

Yes, "fog lights" are slowly going away from a lot of new cars as they are basically obsolete now with headlight tech. It's mostly a style exercise.

Yeah, who cares who you blind? Perfect example of someone who doesn't know what a foglamps is. The WHITE is a driving light. The YELLOW is a foglamp. Have a nice day.

CA cops definitely do not pull you over for lights. I fucking wish they would because some of these fuckers I see on the road are completely oblivious to the fact that they: don't have their headlights on at night, only have DRLs on, driving with high beams, have ebay special plug and play led bulbs, or never fucking signal their turns or merge. You can drive around with a light bar with the power of seven sun's and the cops wont give a rat's stinkin' asshole.

As you can probably tell, I'm very anal when it comes to lights. Also, you shouldn't drive with fogs on unless driving conditions call for it. Especially if you're on a back road with no street lamps, pitch black. Your fogs will throw a lot of foreground lighting that will diminish your ability to see further down the distance since your eyes have to adapt to the excessive pool of light directly in front of you.

Perfect example of what a condescending fuck wad looks like. Last I checked the stock FOG lights as described in the owners manual do not blind people as they are a low intensity halogen bulb. And as previously stated if you have led lamps IN EITHER COLOR and you aim them properly it won’t blind anyone.

I can honestly say I’ve never had this issue, then again I normally will turn on my high beams when on a dark back road. When I’m on paved roads with no street lights I prefer not to use my high beams as much, I run my fog lights full time and have had zero issue with vision or sight distance.

I will say I have noticed that on curvy back roads with no street lights the fog lights help with seeing the edges of the road in your peripheral’s as well as slow rolling on dark dirt roads and trails. Even in clear conditions which I experience 99% of the year.

This is just my experience tho and I’m sure you folks on the east coast or northern half of the country have different experiences and preferences which is what this all boils down to.
