In TN you only need to use the signal if your movement affects another vehicle. Then the signal has to be given for at least 50 feet prior to your change of direction.

There should be no circumstances where a driver should use his turn signals to reflect the actions of another driver.

In some cases its better to not use your turn signal if you live in the LA county area. Some people see your blinker and intentionally block you just because they dont want anyone infront of them. A**hole drivers.

Im not saying dont use your blinker im just saying the are instances where not using it will do less damage then using it.

I don't think some people understand that not using your signal actually means something as well. Kind of like at a four way stop...no turn signal means you're going straight.

I also never trust turn signals 100% of the time since people leave them on or think they want to turn and change their mind after you've already pulled out in front of them. I use mine all the time on the roads, the only time I use them in a parking lot is when I'm claiming a spot someone is pulling out of.

I generally use my blinker when my turning will affect another drivers decisions or actions and the speed limit is more than 10 mph.

for example, I don't signal in parking lots, but on a main road or highway, I will signal if my turning will cause someone to have to brake or avoid me.

however, I will always signal (as a courtesy) when I want to turn into a driveway that another vehicle is turning out of.

haven't read all the pages, sorry if it's already been covered
use your freaking blinker when you're about to exit traffic circles
every single time i'm waiting to enter a traffic circle i'm extremely delayed because 19 people turned off JUST before crossing my path, but didn't use their blinker to indicate they were going to do so

also (again, sorry if it's already been covered), turn signals aren't just for other drivers
as a pedestrian it can be quite a pain when people don't use them too: such as, when a driver who stops at an intersection doesn't use their blinker (which means they're going straight, right?)
probably best to not cross the road (parrallel with the way you think the driver is going) till they make their move, otherwise: BAM! here they come careening for your knee caps, cause they're actually making a turn

I use mine 98% of the time. Even if I'm in a right turn lane, I'll throw my signal on. Always when changing lanes, even if there's nobody immediately behind me. If I'm turning into my yard, I'll use it. The only time I don't use it is when I'm out on the newspaper route in the deep parts of the neighborhood, (when I'm not on the main roads) because it's 2-5 in the morning, so there's nobody else out there. Sometimes even then though, I use it anyways. :D

Why the hell would anybody ever try to pass you on the left on a 2 lane highway because you put your brakes on ?

I have done that before. Guilty. lol

Lindsey, you are the boss girl!

And you are entitled to disagree. Just because you disagree does not make it wrong. Obviously you don't drive very often on winding, hilly, country roads much.

round abbots or traffic circles are the best damn thing. if no one is around you don’t have to stop unlike a red light. and when people use their blinker when they exit it is even more amazing! I wish more places had them traffic seams to flow 20x better and they are not hard to use at all.

I believe the law is probably on my side.

I can see no circumstances, regardless of the type of road, where a driver should use his turn signals to indicate another drivers intentions.
