except the entire middle east, China, Africa, Central Europe, Russia, and South America...

So if you mean Western Europe and Australia then... screw them... theirs is high due to taxes!

If (when) gas goes to $5 a gallon, 3 things will happen. 1) I'll be donating plasma & sperm at least once a week 2) I'll quit smoking 3) Sadly no more mods in this taco's future

So we don't pay $5 / gallon because some of it is taxes ?

No... you pay ~$5 a gallon because of the huge tax on gas in Canada...you actually pay about 30.5 ¢/L ($1.386/imperial gal; $1.153/US gal) in B.C

Whereas, on average in the U.S we pay about 45.6 cents per US gallon (12.0 ¢/L)

taxes vary depending on the state just like Canada where is varies by province but on average Canadians pay about 60% more in taxes per gallon

not to mention you also pay sales tax on top of the excise tax and the fuel price...

hey at least its not the U.K where they pay excise, VAT, duty, and fuel price...~$4.75 a gallon U.S

no 30.5 cents per litre is though... if you google canada fuel tax you will come up with the average tax for your province

if you approximate 4 liters = 1 gallon then you pay about $1.20 per gallon

Sorry , I misunderstood your original post , but by your numbers we pay about 80 cents per gallon more due to taxes than you guys .

.80 cents a gallon more than your artificially low prices still doesn't add up to the $5 gallon we pay .

At $5 a gal it would make sense to trade the truck in for a hybrid or full electrical.

Canada your not paying 5 dollars a gallon. And even if you were you get paid more then we do down here in the US. My job in Canada almost pays me double then what I make here in the States.
