Whoa, I need to edit this, the game I had was a Mattel Electronic Football, NOT the Coleco model shown. My bad.

Hell yeah, I could beat any body, if they would take the ball first. If they scored, I could kill the rest of the half, scoring right before time expired, and then got the ball to start the third, and kill the entire half, again scoring right before time an out. But those were out in the mid seventies, I was already 14 or 15 by then.

There was a bar in La Habra that had a track and Stomper races every Thursday night back in the mid 80s.

Guys got bigtime serious... "spike" charging their batteries, tweaking the gears, rewinding the motors... they'd get as into it as the RC guys did.

    That was 2nd generation.

The original was Mattel, and they reissued it a while back.
Picked one up for my buddy's son, he loved it!

    That's the guy!

Dad worked at Rockwell and had a field day at the company store... Bought mom an 18r calculator, bought me a '76 (18r with red, white, and blue case), and bought my brother a 64r as a graduation present, plus the football game.
He used a slide rule through high school and his first 4 years of college.
Ultimately I had a Ti55 on my belt in high school.

The set I had was Strombecker Monaco!!! We didn't even have furniture in the living room of the new house my folks built (1968) and let my brother and I set it up in there, with plenty of room.

Anyone remember these? I had the one on the left and had a blast launching the spring-loaded fist at anything that didn't move fast enough... until I got stupid and tagged a hornet's nest :(
