Check out your regional forum (https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/regions.36/) for meetups where dozens of trucks and their owners ... and eligible women with 3 in lifts and 35s ... gather.

Sorry for the big D , it happens… I purchased a precertified 2016 5 yrs ago. No problems yet, new tires just purchased, brake job soon,

threat yourself, if you can afford it. 4wd. Is nice. 4cyl works if it’s nothing too heavy. 6 is better but I got a 4 sr5 and extremely happy.

4th gen is significantly more expensive … doubtful prices will drop much on the 3rd

Congrats on the divorce...."No good marriage ever ended in divorce"

Anyway I would go for a 4wd if you can, you will wish you had it sometimes. The main things I would look at regardless of years are a leaking timing cover, and any coolant leaks at the bypass pipe at the back of the engine.....Both are very difficult to spot but worth looking at before making a purchase of anything.
As mentioned 2016 and 2017 years have been deemed problematic but it is hit or miss. All years seem to suffer from the Timing cover and Coolant leak issues though sporadically.

Dude if you’re going through divorce and your main concern is the next truck you are getting you are more mentally fucked up than most going though divorce. The totality of divorce, and the emotional trauma you are going through hasn’t hit you yet. You would probably do well to seek a little counseling. Forget about the truck, concern yourself with your mental and emotional well being and your financial well being. Listen to or read the lyrics of the Bob Seger song Little Victories . It describes exactly what you are going through, you just haven’t realized it yet. You are in denial.

Exactly, I wouldn't be surprised if there is an uptick in prices or at least remaining the same. People, like myself are seeking out good lightly used Tacomas right now to avoid having to get a 4th gen. Those things are assuredly going to have growing pains at least for the first 2 to 3 years. I trust Toyota more than anyone to provide hybrid options, but don't discount the bug factor of first year models......even from Toyota.

Yep... and the hybrids are probably not even going to be here for another 6 months... Toyota said April... but it likely won't ramp for a bit

ORRR...he is very happy to be moving on to another chapter of his life and is finally going to be able to get some things and do some things that he wasn't able to before. Without knowing the details, I would tend to not try and guess what mental state a person is in.

GA. laws are a little more merciful than CA laws. - a little. Like mentioned here, focus for a while on keeping your shirt - and pants. My neighbor is losing both.

Congratulations on the divorce, mine gets finalized Wednesday! I got my 2wd no thrills basic SR 2022 from Carmax with 13k miles. Paid 27k. Check them out, the buying experience was fantastic and I’ll never shop at a typical dealer again.

If I were to buy a truck today, be a ~2019 - 2021 SR Tundra w/ preferably the 5.7. Now that is a reliable no frills truck

Make sure your financial situation is solid, you don’t “need “ a truck.
