So the rut didn't look that deep...It was. Got a nice pinstripe on the front bumper and it sheered the plastic clips that hold the tail light lens in place.

Depends on how hard you wheel. Light trails? You won't. Rock crawling in some place like JV? Dusy? You'll get damaged!

haha i just dented my box and trashed another tail light today, any type of tight trail can eventually result in something getting dinged up. not happy but not gonna cry like a bitch about it either. now i need two new tail lights! sucks cause i can't find any used locally.

Ripped off the mudflaps, pinstriping, dented and scratched the box and cracked a tail light up at All Wheels in Maine.

Truck still runs fine, just has a little character now.

They would have 1. Hung up on whatever he hit or 2. Nudged his truck over while rubbing against whatever he hit.

    Sliders are a must have.

I did this Labor day Monday :D I mean not on purpose but shit happens and if I was worried or afraid of something like this would happen I wouldn't have bought the truck in the first place. That being said.... "Stupid tree stump!" :spy:

In my situation I believe sliders would've helped.

If it reaches over the slider and you still push on there isn't shit save for an exo that'll save you. Trust me, my sliders saved me from the trees until there was no more slider and then it was crunch time.

The extent of the damage reveals as much.

For me, it was a case of "when it happens" on all of my vehicles lol. My first new truck I never ever intended to "wheel with it". I was out on a perfectly smooth logging road one night with a couple buddies and we kept cruising over these little shallow washouts, no big deal, just a little bump. Then after about an hour we hit one that looked the same but apparently was a lot deeper and BANG I split my drivers side front rim right in half.

Then on my next truck, it was only a month or so old, I was drinking so I decided to let my girlfriend drive the back road home. This was in the fall so the puddles were starting to ice over. I kept telling her to slow down because we were breaking through about an inch of ice in the puddles. Wellllllll she didn't slow down enough and we fell through into a deep one and it shattered the bottom half of the front bumper to peices. That was my other 09 Tacoma, I was pissed...

Same truck a few months later, I was loading a snowmobile onto a tilt trailer and as soon as the front skies touched the back of the trailer the hitch popped off the ball, hitch went straight up, trailer went forward, and I folded my tailgate into a V-shape lol. It was my fault, I was in a hurry and forgot to latch the hitch. Silly me. I pounded the tailgate straight, with my fist lol, and never thought about it again (til now) Thanks for that memory :D .

Anyway the point is unless you put your truck inside a shipping container, and place that shipping container inside a nuclear fallout shelter, and cover the fallout shelter in 10 feet of steel reinforced concrete, you will probably get some damage to your truck when you least expect it.

But it's all good! Because after that first scratch or dent, you just don't care anymore and you get to use your truck for more things that you were too worried about before!

Actually, Mr. Knowsitall, it does. The damage is low, and you can see it was pushed in somewhat laterally. Now imagine a clay pit. Then insert a slider on his truck. Presto blamo, a set of sliders would have helped him.

Christ Almighty you come across as a pretentious dick sometimes.

Some scuffs on the front tupperwear bumper, same goes for the bull bar when I actually have it on, tons of trail pin stripes, more scuffs and a few small dents on rear bumper. You can't expect to take a truck off road and not get some sort of damage, you just have to know what you can and cannot do in hopes of avoiding it.
