I had those on a couple trucks in the past and NEVER had anything like this happen. And I drove them harder than I do my current real set up LOL

The strut compressed beyond its limit due to the spacer extending travel but no bump stop modification was made. So it bent the weakest link.

I already did and so did others in general terms. Shock ran out of shock travel and the force bent and broke said shock.

Spacer lifts cause you to run out of shock travel upon compression of the shocks because you have a larger up travel (articulation) with the spacer. If the force is great enough, your internal bumpstops cant handle the load so it dissapates and breaks/bend the shock. Hence why someone metioned you should have a larger bump stop to limit compression/up travel.

Or just do it right if you wheel, if not you should probably not jump curbs at 50mph at the mall with a spacer lift.

Yeah, I'm not blaming the spacer(s) plenty out there with no issues and it is reasonable alternative for sagging springs imo. But for lifting I'd spend $$ for the proper components to achieve the desired lift.

Yeah, sorry. I deleted my post because I re-read your post and you specifically were talking about the tension in the springs, not the nitrogen pressure. And yeah, I'd be really cautious removing that coilover. Scary stuff.

Toyota gives you warranty on their spacer lifts from the dealer.
Spacer lift doesn't mean you can go jump dunes now. Just don't be an idiot and your suspension will be fine. I'm fine with spacer lifts if you know what your buying.

This topic is beat to death, but the "best" suspension lift is based on its intended use. A daily driver, for example, wouldn't need a mid travel setup for everyday roads. Now, that's not to say a spacer lift is the best option, but for the price it's hard to beat. Lets admit it, not everyone researches and makes the best purchases. A majority of trucks I see on the road are on spacers/blocks. Most people don't have any problem with them unless they're taken off-road or under severe strain. Blocks are still used on many full size trucks to this day. As long as the user understands the limitations of the blocks/spacers, everything will be just fine.

First of all, im not getting spacers, but I am trying to learn as much as I can... So are you saying that if you do run a spacer kit and DO get new bumps like the super bumps or similar, you would avoid this issue from happening? thanks for dealing with my ignorance.

Front bump stops. Get bigger ones to avoid bottoming out the shocks if you go off road. I don't know exactly what brands there are for front bump stops though.

Makes sense, so the spacers reduce the up travel, which, with stock bumps, would overload the shocks and create a lot of pressure and possibly snap. but with larger bumps it would stop the shock from compressing all the way and avoid the issue? I think I got it now haha

Well, the spacers INCREASE up travel of the whole suspension, but the shock didn't gain any. So you're over compressing the shock which overloads it.
