Just changed the plugs on my 2015 Tacoma. Do i need to change the spark plug wires as well?
Went with NGK Iridium plugs if it makes any difference. Truck is running perfectly.

The past has shown some trucks running like crap with iridiums. Good for you if it was not an issue.

How did you change the plugs without noticing there are no plug wires? It would seem being on this site for 6 years you would have come across that info.

He’s only posted ten messages, and based on a 2021 entry, this is his first plug change. It does sound a bit odd, but understandable at the same time.

I think it’s a valid question. There are wires to the coils although I don’t recall if they are connected to the harness or just part of it. Yes, they aren’t high voltage like an old wire from a distributor but some may not know that.

There are coil boots that are replaceable but no wires, if there's no carbon tracking, cracking, or oil contamination and they are still pliable there's not really a need to replace them.

11 minutes after the OP made his post he signed out of TW and has not been back since. I think that says it all. Obviously didn’t care what the answers to his questions are or even if he got any responses.

100K for Iridiums. On my second set. I also don't use Toyota coolant, or any red/pink coolant, but that’s another story.

Cu for the least resistance and best performance but not for the longest lasting.

Probably depends on what heat range/resistance. Naturally, iridium has higher electrical resistance than copper. I see no reason to switch from what Toyota specs, which is copper. They are cheap. If you use Iridium plugs, you still should pull them every 30k or so to regap them. And you better not eff that up because having the ground strap break off inside the chamber can ruin your engine.

Don't be a slave to the auto manufacturers' manuals. NGK and Denso are reputable aftermarket (and OEM) parts manufacturers. They also have qualified engineers. Feel free to choose among the products they list in their application guides for your Taco. After all, their application guides are usually more current than the manufacturers' manuals. You do not need to re-gap iridium plugs until past 60K, if at all. I'm on my second set and performance is as when knew. Gas mileage has not changed. Their primary benefit is they l require less maintenance. I replace mine at 100K.
