Yeah, sucks to keep a vehicle outside 24/7. Wifes prius stays inside the garage while i have to watch the elements pummel my tacoma now. Oh well...happy life, happy wife.

Yeah I never have had a garage so my vehicles have always lived outside. I've had beater cars up to the last few so I never cared as long as them beaters ran and were clean enough to live with what they looked like otherwise. with the Jeep I had 11 years I tried to keep it nice and protected by waxing it 3-4 times a year and washing it regularly. It was a 2006 and when I sold it last year it did have clear coat starting peel on the hood. Not sure how you can avoid it, I do what I can. Owning a home with a garage or covered carport is something I want if I move to a different place

I've got a big enough 2 car garage....problem is i've got a boat in the other bay i'm restoring. I guess someday i'll finish it...wife says thats up for debate, but got a lot of other chit to take its place when its gotta there. At least the ceramic glass coating is doing its job on the taco. Truck still appears to look better at this time than my tundra did.

Speaking of maintenance, I'm getting an oil change, tire rotation, and some other stuff tomorrow and my maintenance light hasn't turned on yet. Is there a way to prevent it from turning on? The sticker says to come at 24k or October 10th, however I'm leaving for college in a few days and I'm at 23k and I'd rather do it now than wait until December. I won't be around my truck much between now and December.

The distance between me and the college I will be attending is approximately 230 miles.

My dealer started the oil changes at 5k, so then 15k etc.

You'll just have to reset it like shown in the post above when it does come on...mine came on around 4,500 miles.

My understanding is thats what happens to a lot of people. they end up having things in the garage that prevent them from parking in it. In your case a boat project don't seem so bad for some its just junk and things they don't have a place to store elsewhere.

Resetting it per the instructions will set the mileage count to zero again. No need to wait till the light comes on.

Problem is i've created by letting the boat project slide. I've now accumulated a lot of junk sitting in the boat. Its gotten to be a storage place, i've got to get up the gumption to clean it out, and get the actual boat project back on. When you get older this stuff happens.

I actually just had this happen to me. I was nearly 100 miles past my service interval.

I'm not sure if it was because I was the last customer of the day or because the light wasn't on but they didn't reset it and I got the light the very next time I started the truck. I just reset it myself.

I know I have to purge my basement. I'm trying to get many of my tools up on peg boards that were already there I just never used. you do accumulate stuff the older you get and longer you stay in a house. And yes things always come up too. Usually for me its other family issues that somehow I get to fix for them because no one else will help... I'm actually tired of that. It's soon time for me to say NO a lot more.

Yeah tell me about it. I've accumulated a rather large couple craftsmen chests of tools over 1/2 a century plus more tools placed everywhere else. Wife keeps harping on me i have no clue anymore what i have. You've likely given me another reminder to do something about it.
