Lift really doesn't have anything to do with extended brake lines. Your suspension travel is still limited by droop. Most lift kits that people are bolting on are within OEM specs which is why most market them as OEM replacements.

You need extended brake lines when you extend suspension travel i.e droop. Your rear shock is a basic shock, your leafs are providing lift and and your shock is limiting the travel.

If you were to switch to a shock relocation with 12-14" shocks then you can extend significantly more than a normal OEM replacement shock, thus requiring extended brake lines.

Essentially, they are only required for mid/long travel

Driver side 5160 comes with a brake line extender bracket. 5160 is not that long of a shock.

For the front, you only need extend brake lines if you go long travel. Like replace uppers and lowers and longer axles. True, no shit, long travel.

for the rear, depends on how much you can articulate as others have said. Bolting in an oem lift? No need for longer. Going bilstein b110? Get +4”. Relocating the shocks and other stuff? Depends on application.

Thanks. That makes sense and is well explained. I did understand mostly that it's the droop that gets you in trouble. I guess asking about lifts was the wrong choice of words. I appreciate it.
