Are there any areas you would actually worry about getting wet if cleaning the engine bay?

The Super Clean and 303 route looks promising! Seems a lot easier than the ChrisFix video I was going to follow. I have a lot of caked muddy water splashes from off-roading. Will try and report back!

    Same as everybody else...
I drive 2 track farm roads weekly, dusty and dirty so I don't really clean the engine. I hit the engine cover when I do an oil change but that's about it

Can say that this method works great. I used it and it worked awesome. Only thing I did was get a couple of exterior detailing brushes to get into the crevices. You don't need to spend a ton of time with the brushes but a quick pass with them and it worked great.

I believe I have these exact ones! Was thinking the same. A quick agitation everywhere with the large brush.

I foam cannon the engine bay each time I wash it. Let the suds sit for 5 minutes and pressure wash it off. Usually gets all the big stuff. I get it professionally detailed every 8 months ish, but I will be trying the 303 method next time myself!!

Tried the Super Clean on our Corolla and WOW! Sprayed on, agitated with brush, rinsed, and dried! 15 minute job (plus time to air dry). Didn't do the 303 this time around though. Can't wait to try on the Taco!

Advise against pressure washing. Water will be forced into places you don’t want it going, even if you plastic wrap the usual components. A good soaking with a degreaser, some gentle scrubbing where needed and a not too powerful rinse with garden hose will clean nicely. Wiping plastic coverings and hoses using a protectorant will keep them lasting and looking spiffy. Actually, an engine doesn’t care how pretty it looks, but it sure is neat to have a 20 year engine compartment looking one year old, like if you bring it to a mechanic. “Do my truck well.”

Did the Tacoma. I have two years of Florida mud caked on, so the end result wasn't what I was hoping. Rubber hoses seem the most resistant. Anyone have ideas?

I typically do occasionally but since I have undercoated with Woolwax I wouldn't use a spray degreaser, pretty sure that would run down, drip and remove some of the coating...
