Its been about 12 years for me(knock on wood). When I was 18, I got 5 speeding tickets within about a year and a half. Awful on my wallet, because then the insurance co. considered me high risk. My rate was through the roof! Glad I've learned to slow down.

That would be British Columbia. All the provinces have there own versions. I think we have the most crazy ones though cause we have some of the worst roads. It's lots of mountain roads and your kind of nuts to speed anyway. They also have these slow to signs here, cautionary signs, like say slow to 40km a hour on some mountain road. They really mean you must slow down to that speed. Much faster and you simply will not make it. They are warning you for a reason the roads can get pretty bad here.

Accidents all the time and people in the ditch all the time around here. Miss the corner have fun on your thousand foot drop drive down the side of a mountain. Some places have railing, some don't. Most make the corner then go off slightly later than the rails go. They loose it on the corner then go off later.

The rule of thumb here is if the roads are bad don't speed and you will have no problems driving around here. You have a death wish to speed where the roads are bad. You simply are not going to make it. The bad sections are really not that long. A few KM and then it's just normal driving after that. Everyone that lives here knows or should know where they are. If you don't know where they are just watch the signs and they will be there on bad sections. It's kind of like Colorado, really hard to build highways around here.

There is a sign around here. Slow to 20KM both sides of the road and extra BIG signs with Flashing lights ! They even start to tell you to slow down before you even get to that sign. Think people get the hint? Nope. One goes off the road there weekly and it's ugly. End of a canyon and you go off you're going down in that hole. The only way to fix it would be a bridge. Last week a women hit a semi on that corner. Head on. Not nice. She did live though. She probably was going 20Km but got a ticket for driving too fast for the road conditions. If the weather is bad you have to slow down even more then the signs say. That is one of the reasons why she didn't die. She was not going that fast. The truck was a write off. Not much left but she is still alive though.

The other bad one is the Fraser Canyon and I found a different one too. The road that goes over to Creston BC. That pass on that highway is just crazy. One to avoid at all costs in the winter. It may not even be open in the winter, I'm not sure. The Pemberton one is suppose to be really bad too but I never drove that one. It starts after Whistler. Same road only it goes east from there threw a pass. Several billion dollars later and that short section to Whistler is now fixed. Don't know what it cost total but it was in the billions. They hid a lot of the costs for that project so the final total may never be known. They fixed the road over at Golden BC by building a massive bridge there. Another billion dollar project. That had a insanely high death toll on it over the years.

What happens if you have never had one :confused: 33 years of driving and more miles than you can count ; luckily I have never been in the wrong place at the right time.....

This includes DOT "exams" ( you LEO's understand these ;)) where they can bring your complete" history" from your 1st license up on a screen and smile  because whatever you just "sold" them better check out to be true.....plus check your "ride" or in my case ,"Office" front to back and keep you there until EVERYTHING passes...:D

I've been driving about 40 years now and have one speeding ticket. State trooper was heading towards me and pulled a u-turn behind me and pulled me over. He said I was going 72 in a 45 and said he had me on radar. I knew for sure I was going exactly 50 because I checked the speedo as soon as I saw him. I went to court and beat it. Still have a spotless driving record. I know, that and two bucks will get me a coffee...

As a teenager, I drove like a hellion but never got a speeding ticket. One night we were sitting around a friend's house talking about tickets and stuff. I started bragging about never getting a ticket. Well I got my first ticket the very next day, right in front of the same friend's house. All this considered, I cannot discuss how long it's been since I got a speeding ticket. LOL

My last one was back in October. I got clocked by aircraft going 79 in a 55 in my Mustang. Traffic on this particular road typically runs 70-75 and for some reason I was driving a little faster that particular day, which is certainly not normal for me for the last 10 years or so. Before this I hadn't had a ticket for at least 8 or 9 years and the one before was for like 10 over. Between the ages of 18 and 21 I got so many tickets I lost my license for 3 months. And then continued to get them randomly until I was about 25. I didn't drive like a moron, but I drove a little faster than traffic and always drove something that attracted a lot of attention. Mostly lifted trucks. Now I usually drive with the faster-moving traffic, and with the exception of my FJ40 everything appears stock. Even my Mustang has factory Ford 17" wheels on it so besides a slightly lower ride height it just looks like a clean stock car.

I haven't had a ticket in 10 or 11 years. I've been pulled over twice this year and gotten warnings both times. Once for talking on my cell phone and not using a handsfree headset and once for doing 30 in a 25. Both times I just admitted to being wrong and got a warning.
