I was in a similar boat a few weeks ago. I’ve owned 4 Tacomas and a 4Runner over the years, and was ready to trade my 2013 TRD OR and knew I wanted a Pro this time around. Of the available colors for 18s and 19s, I wanted one in white. I found an 18 locally that I could buy at MSRP, but for same money was going to wait on the 2019s. While I didn’t care about a sunroof or the other new additions to the 19s, I figured a one-year newer truck would be worth a step more at sell or trade time someday in the future. While waiting on the 19s, a like-new 2017 TRD Pro in Cement (which is the color I like best anyway) became available at a dealer an hour drive from me. Made a deal over the phone, went to drive it the next morning and in the end saved nearly $10k vs what I would have had in a new one. And, the prior owner had just upgraded to BFG KO2s so this saved me more since I would have done the same out of my own pocket. So, maybe do a national search for a low mileage pre-owned 2017 or 2018, and see what’s out there. I got lucky with one a close drive to me, but if that didn’t happen, it would have been worth a longer drive or a flight. Best of luck finding your truck.

First of all, that cement color is freaking amazing so congrats to you. Why they discontinued that color is beyond me. Clearly marketing missed the boat on what people wanted. Secondly, I have started to wonder if I shouldn't take the exact same path. As a last ditch effort, I did sent toyota corporate an email today asking them if they have any answers for me. I'm not buying for one minute that Toyota, world renowned for their production and supply chain, doesn't have a production and delivery schedule they are working off of. There is no way at the corporate and plant level they are sitting around saying "I'm really not sure when we will get these built and shipped...its anyone's guess".

Their inability to get me any answers at all is threatening to lose them a sale. While I have been waiting I have learned that the back seat size could make it tough for me to get my 3 year old and 1 month old in the back seat (car seats) with me and my wife comfortable up front on our ride from fort lauderdale to Orlando. Due to family reasons I may have to go with the ZR2. I think the tacoma is a better overall truck, but there is no denying the interior of the colorado (especially the back seat) has way more leg room.

Last note - I think the 2017's did not have the fox shocks. These just came out in 2018, right? If so, how would you rate the shocks on the 2017 vs. the 2018/2019?

The marketing write ups Toyota gives make it sound that way, but I think they are saying Fox Shocks are an upgrade vs the other trim levels. I know I have Fox shocks on my 2017 and the ride felt the same to me as the 2018 I test drive. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my understanding. I love this ride vs my 2013 OR suspension, and it’s more than enough Off-Road worthy for my needs. Upping the tires a size to 275-75-r16s is all I want/need to do on my trucks.

The one thing I would mention as you consider your option is that it’s the quality and resale value that keeps me coming back to Tacomas. My 2013 that I just traded was worth 80% what I paid for it new. Plan on that 5 year future value being more like ~50% if a truck other than a Tacoma.

As I was shopping for a Pro, I too considered other options. The other dealers I stopped in to chat with - Nissan, Chevy/GMC and Ford - all went over the top to follow up with me, sweeten the deal, offer incentives etc. But not the Toyota dealers. They don’t have to. Certainly not for the TRD Pros. The truck I found and bought was a new trade at a Ford dealer. They were quick to deal with me and get it done. Verbal agreement by phone, emailed it to me written up, and I was driving away with the new truck and leaving them my old one within 45 minutes of the test drive that next morning. In the end, I stick with Tacomas because I really love these trucks, and know first hand their quality, reliability and ultimately how well they hold value vs the other options.

I have the JBL and moon roof which I think is standard on the limited. I leave the moon roof shade open 24/7 since new for a brighter interior, makes a big difference...been through frog swamping rains, never a leak and never "exploded" (I had to laugh at that one). These options may make a sale for you down the road, a little extra luxury.

How often do you plan to use the truck bed?

My golf clubs and other miscellaneous stuff would always be stored back there. If you are asking how often I will use it to transfer large items that say wouldnt fit in an SUV, the answer is rarely. A few times a year I might have to hall furniture, etc.

You should really test drive a 4Runner Offroad Premium. Tons of room for your family and extremely safe. I have a 2016 4Runner Trail Premium and it is rock solid.

Or they could hurt a sale. I would never pay extra for jbl or that moonroof. It’s a shame cause many guys have stated they won’t be buying a pro due to it being standard. Dumb on Toyota’s part.

I am sure Toyota wont have any trouble selling them, plus they were able to raise the price do to the extras.

I checked it out. These TRD Pro's sell for a fortune in California compared to other parts of the country. This is a manual transmission model with a 49K sticker! I'm in the market for an automatic without the snorkel. At this point Im almost certain the dealer is going to jack the price up on me, although he promised he would get me the 2019 for the same price as a 2018. Words dont mean much though and even the documentation they gave me isn't binding so they will try to back out.

Tacoma Pro has the same fox on 17/18 & 19. It was 4Runner and Tundra Pros that didn’t get fox in 17.

I put in my order for a 2019 White Trd Pro mid August (15-20th) and I still haven't been allocated one.

I have a feeling I won't be seeing my order allocated to me until next year.

Update: will take delivery of it sometime in December :)

Anyone with 2019 Super White PRO arrivals dates?

Working with a couple dealers and received a 3-6 month wait and 3-8 month wait after order
(Also both said only automatic only, need to confirm this)

May just be a regional thing if they are trying to force you to get an Automatic
