First Post - Thanks for the add!

So here's the story: Owned a 94 Extended Cab 4x4 Toyota 'Truck' 5MT for 2 years, then had kids. Needed something more practical, so bye bye truck. FFWD 24 years - all three kids gone. Wife says "Time to replace the truck!" (God, I love her!). In fairness I did replace her minivan with a '13 RX450h a few years back hoping one day she would say that...

Anyhow, I did some research and decided to get basically the 2020 version of what I had previously, but a little more fancy. Ordered a TRD Sport AC/6MT (Access Cab Premium, Tech, and LED pkgs) in Cement. Order signed 17 Feb with estimated build date of 12 March (Baja Mex plant). Got a text from salesman on 13 March saying it was actually built 9 March. Inquired about delivery date - he said in the 7 - 13 April time frame.

Now, here's the question - Any idea if that's realistic?

I know there were some border closures, but not sure what was being let through. I also believe the truck stops somewhere to get accessories added (mudflaps and floor mats/door sill protector that I didn't want but the truck was actually a redirected order from another dealership) Not sure if that place is open currently, or if those accessories are actually added at the dealership.

Let's see what the community thinks is a reasonable delivery date. Destination is Colorado Springs.

    I'll keep you updated.

    Stay safe out there!

Yes. It's about 5 to 10 days from factory to port, and 2 to 3 weeks from port to dealership.

I'd say that's right on time.

    Congrats, and welcome to TW!

Your Truck is not being built at the Baja Plant, all Access Cabs and all Manual Transmission models are only produced in Texas. My truck took about 4 months from when I ordered it but it got to the dealership roughly 3 weeks after it was manufactured.

With the Texas plant being shut down, are they shipping anything? It's currently closed until at least April 6. Around here, car dealers aren't even allowed to be open other than the service dept.

Just something to be aware of depending on where you live.

Toyota indicated on 26 March that the San Antonio plant shutdown is extended thru 20 April. I drove by the plant yesterday and there was zero activity.

Your dealer can see pretty much where your truck is on any given day by checking the status on their computers - assuming there is someone at the dealership now to do so. How long it takes will also be a function of where you live. The trucks generally move pretty quickly after they are built - go through QC and are then railed to the regional port that services your region. Mine went through QC and was railed out the day after it was built. The train will make stops at various locations along the way to drop vehicles at the regional ports. Then the Port installed accessories are added - my truck spent two days in the port and then was trucked to the dealer.

Of course, all bets are off now with the impact of Covid-19 so that will probably impact your timeline.

Again, if you dealership is still open, they can access their computer and see where your truck is and the projected dates of each part of the delivery. Like yours, my truck was built in Texas. My dealer emailed me this:

    Tracking Status Jan 30 2020.jpg

I hope it arrives soon...but whenever it does you're going to love it!

It may not be a matter of the dealership or the factory but the port and their transport folks being available. At some point the port is going to ship out everything they can and then sit on their hands until the factories fire back up.

When did Toyota start building Access Cabs in Mexico? I thought all AC's were built in San Antonio.

Just as a general FYI. The announcements are being made per and by manufacture. However, basically all Car/truck production lines in the US are shut down until mid-late April. YMMV

Tesla and BMW were the latest (I heard) to shut down.

Sounds hard to believe what the dealer is telling him, they had the factory wrong so I would take anything else they say with a grain of salt.

From what I understand, and its VERY possible I'm missing some facts, the VINs that start with 3 are Baja factory rigs. Based on the VSpec sheet on the truck that the dealer sent me, the VIN is 3TYSZ5AN... and it clearly lists Access Cab 6MT.
