When will the world end?

Technically when the Sun reaches the red giant phase in about 7 billion years from now the planet will be consumed, but complex life will die off way before then.

In around 600 million years climate changes due to the increased luminosity from the Sun burning Helium with in turn the rate of weathering of silicate minerals (the most common form of rock forming minerals which contain silicon and oxygen) will decrease the percentage of CO2 in the air to a point that plant life can no longer exist. Somewhere between 650million years and 800 million years when the suns luminosity is 10% higher than it is now, the ocean's will boil and all life is expected to be extinct.

With the rate of our technological advances we will probably figure out a way to avoid the boiling death.

This is correct, however, the question didn't state when life would end, it stated when the world would end.

I didn't see anything wrong with his comment, wasn't breaking any forum rules in my opinion.

I think that we will be fine in 2012, people have said that the world would end many of times in the past and nothing happened.
I think history will repeat it self in this case again.
I think it will end because of us, or something from space, like an asteroid, solar flare, something massive like that.
Oh, and if cmack becomes a mod too!
