Too much sentimental value to mine. I will not give it up or sell it until the day I'm dead. Dad bought it new in 01 in the color I choose out of black, desert, or green. Learned to drive in it, learned to work on cars with it. Its staying for a long time.

I'm in a nearly identical situation. Bought mine from the GF three years ago for $12k with 108k on the odometer (now 138k). Last payment is August. It'll be nice not having a payment. I'll probably put it back into upgrades.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Until Toyota makes a true compact Tacoma again, I will be sticking with this one and fixing it and keeping it running for as long as I can. As long as it never gets totaled, it will be my main mode of transportation. I like the looks of the new trucks but they're too damn big, if I were to get a bigger truck, I'll just go one step further and get a full size with a powerful V8 that gets the same mileage. Mid size trucks seem pointless to me when you can get bigger more capable trucks for the same price that offer the same gas mileage and twice the capability.

I've been wrestling with this. Since I've only been using it for hunting season I have been looking at the insurance to keep it vs. what I could do with the cash. I can't take it anywhere without ppl on the street asking if I want to sell it so that creates the temptation. That's why I decided to come here. I want to toy it up a little for camping and my son wants it instead of his 2001 Lexus. He recently learned to drive it (stick) so he could complete his Eagle project and now he wants it.

I would rather give it to him than sell it to someone else, and if that happens I will be looking for a Tundra because I am ready for an upgrade BUT I WOULD MISS IT!

Keep it in the family and you'll always have it, just tell your son he can "borrow" it.

Getting ready to put mine on Craigslist. Bought new at Huntington Beach Toyota. Has 197,000 miles on her. TRD off road with locker. Has been a excellent truck and has never had a mechanical failure. I am getting a early 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 regular cab long bed diesel 4x4 with manual 6 speed that has 60,000 miles on the clock. I thought about getting another Tacoma, but I need something that can pull some weight. And the dodge gets way better mileage then the first gen Tacoma.

Similar here. I paid $15k for a 2000 TRD xtra cab, manual transmission with 73k on the odometer. I looked for that combo for a year before I found THE one. Bought it from the dealer the same day it went on the lot. I got RAPED, but I got the truck that I wanted. I figured it'll last me forever and it doubles as a casket.
