when are the best end of model year sales? specifically im in hawaii, maui. we only have 1 dealer but i bought my last truck on oahu and just shipped it over. i was planning on getting a 3rd gen but but buddy said he got a 4x4 dc long bed for 30k otd last spring on a leftover 2014. normally theyre 36-38 here. id probably take a 2015 if i could get that much off hopefully even more with the new model. how would i pull this off?

Depends on how well the 2016s are received. If poorly, the 2015s are gonna demand a premium.

    Stupid supply and demand!

They quit making 2015's in the fall of that year and retool and start making 2016. That's what the Toyota guy told me anyway. So If you want to order a 2015 don't wait to long, call your dealer and asked about the deadline.

I just got a great deal (right around 30k) for my DCLB v6. Didn't even have to work the rep. I'd suggest emailing dealerships and find one that will talk to you about price over email. The sales rep that answered my questions fastest and most attentive through email is the one I went through and I didn't have to haggle at all. Gave me the price I wanted.

Last week I was looking for a white AC 2015 TRD OR or Sport w/auto for a good price. Found one but have to go 1400 miles to get it. Leftover stock is starting to thin, especially if you're looking for something in particular. If you wait you might get a good price but it will be on whatever happens to be left on the lot.

Bought my 15 TRD Sport 2wd July 30th for 3k off the sticker. I didn't even negotiate. Told the salesman's that's what I wanted and he went to his manager and the deal was done.

Yep. That makes since to me. Special orders now may be in the past for a 2015.

My 2015 has a build date of 6-15 on the door sticker, im thinking production of 15s probably ended in July or August so they could update the factory for the 2016s.

I bought my 2015 Access cab, 4 cy, manual, SR5, Entune plus, step bars and a few other options. first one I saw with 4 cy, manual and so many options. I ran up to St Louis (500 miles) and got it. I called and asked for the best price. MSRP and dealer add on total $25083, will sell at $24000. Ok. Drove up and the sale price was $23800. I did not even ask. I did get a few ill remarks from some of the sales people, like who would buy a handshaker (manual). I think they just were happy to get it off their lot. Me happy to get my dream Taco. And at a good price. I stopped in the local dealership (they could not even or would even order a truck like this for me) they were shocked at the price. They would only come $500 off anything.

I did make them throw in a Toyota coffee mug and ball cap. They where over priced at $18 ea. Just had to try to squeeze more blood out of the turnup.

The best deal on a 2015 Tacoma is the deal you get when you buy it before it doesn't exist anymore.

The prices on 2016's have been leaked out already and they are more expensive. There's really not much incentive for Toyota to offer any discounts at all. It's up to a dealer if they want to drop prices at all.

At this point I don't know why any of them would be willing to do so. Demand is still good and supply is diminishing rapidly.

Don't know how 'exceptional' it was. But to get exactly what you want for a bit less than you felt was a fair price to pay makes it a good deal.

What I liked is your were willing to get off your butt and go get what you wanted. Then of course rubbing your local's nose in it a bit is always fun too.

Depends on the dealer, their inventory levels and location.

Stuff sitting on the lot is expensive overhead.

You did ok, but you didn't rob anyone. No one went home hungry, no one went home sad, and no one lost a dime. You touched the turnip, but may not have actually had a grip on it, and certainly didn't leave any bruises. ;)
