My 2008 Tacoma SR5 (2.7L 4) has 48,000 miles and I put stock 18" X-Runner wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires on when she had only ~5K miles on her. (I couldn't stand the horrible Dunlops with Steelie wheels - NO traction whatsoever)

Now I am happy with the handling - beats many stock passenger cars on the winding mountain road I travel 2-3 days a week...but wonder when I should install new rear shocks (Easy DIY) and front struts (not easy and will have them done). And what type & brand I should install.

The car is not raised or lowered and I am not sure which Bilsteins or what ever would best for general driving - and no heavy loads carried.

    Suggestions folks? Thanks!

    Rob

Had my old truck for 12 years. Half that time it was lowered. I never changed the shocks or struts in 160K miles since I bought it new.

Probablly best not to follow my example.
