All joking aside-- besides "while driving", when using my chainsaw(s) to cut wood is one of the times I wait to have a cold one. I have been known to down a few while unloading the wood however!! Usually the worst damage I could do then is smash my finger or drop a piece of wood on my toes.

I hear a ported 026 screams, I'm a little scared to see how a 461 ported would run...

I’ve learned to tame the beast now. I really have to be careful with my face cuts when felling. A little to much throttle and I’m further into my cut then I want to be. Yikes, that gets the butthole puckered!

Did anyone have the heart to tell him his truck is full of piss fir? :) Funniest thing ever to see flatlanders going for those - I drive down towards the desert side of our mountains to get pinyon pine, scrub and black oak. My Stihl .036 running strong from since the 80’s with a short bar is my choice for cutting those.

That’s hard stuff! Such a nice looking tree, too. You live in a wonderful place if that is nearby!

Heres my old base model 2002 Tacoma hauling some heavy pine rounds. My husqvarna 545 got quite the workout cutting through those huge rounds. The truck wasn't down to the bumpstops but it came pretty close. Tacoma_Woodcutting_02.jpg

Yes! It cracks me up to see urbanites/flatlanders going for piss fir. Nasty stuff. Scrub oak, that stuff burns forever!

Yeah no kidding! it was tough getting those suckers into the bed. It made great firewood for the following winter when it all dried out though. It's good for building up the fire and then you can put on some dense wood like oak to keep it going through the night.

Nice haul man! T-100!! I had one for years before I got my 17’. Loved that truck, I miss it. Love to see those tires flattened from a good load.

An old Homelite XL-12 I refurbished. I have two others just like it. :anonymous:

Great for storm cleanup in the yard and collecting wood for campfires!

Wow!! Beautiful saw, I’ve seen a few of those and even fewer that still worked! It looks great. How’s it run? Did you have to rebuild the engine?

Great old saw -- they (homelite) made good saws years ago till they sold out to Textron--then their quality went to hell in a handbasket! An old homelight was the first chainsaw I picked up under the guidance of my deceased Father-in-law. His was a red one - not sure of the model #?

Do you have a choice? -- I know nothing of Almond -- save your pecan for smoking ribs -- go for the Oak!

    They all run great now.

They all needed new fuel lines, air filters, and duck bill valves in the fuel cap. One of them (the Super XL-12) seemed seized, but it was just a bolt backed out into the flywheel.

Other than that, fresh gas, chain, a scrench, and a lot of cleaning. They are manual oilers, so your thumb gets a workout. I also made a little carry case for each of them from a milk crate.

They were given to me by a friend's wife after he passed away unexpectedly. Every time I used them or have a fire with the wood they cut, it's like part of him is still there with us.
