I would have guessed closer to 5k in parts, but you would know better than I would. ;) I also would have thought the crossmember would be the same so the IFS diff could be bolted right into it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong. :notsure:

Well I'd like to just accomplish the 2wd to 4wd before considering the solid axle even if I end up changing some parts. I would like to keep it electronic if possible by using an actually Tacoma t-case. Ill pay for the 4x4 ecu and harness.

A better option would be to get the prerunner adapter from Inchworm so you can keep your stock 2wd transmission and just run a manual shift FJ transfer case. The price would be up there, but so would getting a 4wd transmission and transfer case. The adapter would make the swap a hell of a lot easier too. Less electronic stuff to deal with as well.

It's very possible, depends on what you can find at the junkyards.

The transmission crossmember is what I meant, sorry, I should have clarified.

Haha, either way, really. Don't you have an FJ case you were looking to unload as well?

I only have a transfer case, I parted all my 4wd stuff out a while back.

What I would do is call these guys at Morrison auto, 608-561-5031. I dealt with a guy named Alex. I found them through RST, the shipped the transfer case on a small pallet right to my front door. Tell him everything you need and also check the local junkyards.

If i had a 2wd and wanted to go 4wd i would definitely go solid axle d44 with an adapter behind a prerunner trans, would be cheaper, easier and stronger.

    Is that your only vehicle?

If that route still got me the end result which is going 4wd I'd be all for it. I would need to know exactly everything to buy for that.

No it's not my main vehicle.

I'm on night shift so I'll hang around for a bit.

What is your goal for the truck, what kind of offroading do you plan on doing and most importantly, honestly, how much can you budget have you already set money aside? How long can you be without your truck?

Ok, do a solid axle with a manual case and hubs then you won't have to mess with any of the electronics.

Well I rather keep it closed to stock, because my offroading will be minumal. So any chance you have part numbers to the parts need, Or are the parts needed exactly the same on any 05-14 Tacoma? Someone mentioned getting an adapter plate which I will do so I don't have to change out the transmission.

And I spent two years collecting the parts, and a month DD'ing the tin can GlamRunner during the conversion. It didn't happen overnight lol.
